I've always thought that if it's a heavily comitted track car then shiny paint would sit pretty far down on the list of priorities. Also seeing alot of track cars sit quite low they look quite tuff without good paint anyway, kind of like those old "rat rodders". In terms of money spent on my car I like to throw my cash away on getting the car looking and feeling good and then get it going harder. My rational is that I hardly get time to drive my Z so I like the instant gratification I get from buying stuff like wheels etc. The S30 has some very nice lines and cleaning the car up really exentuates that. I'm at a point where I like the way it looks so when I walk into the garage I don't feel bad about spending more to now improve performance. Up to date my car is close to stock with early SU's. elec dizzy, extractors and 2.5" exhaust and KYB shock with low King springs. Next investment is rear disc upgrade and finish work planned for the L28 I've bought, which will be a rebuild with some headwork and mild cam. So I suppose this personal choice question has a lot to do with what your using the car for and how often your driving it.

Yer he has SM needles listed in parts list and also a P90 head but the note under the time sheet actually says the times are based on stock needles and with his old P79 head so I think the 15 sec mark is reasonable based on that but I guess I won't find out til I put it together and have a go myself so I'll keep reading til then. Gav, have you got a plan in terms of time for the completion of your motor?

Those wheels Nigel has sound like a great deal. I've got some alloy 14 inch hurricane wheels, 2 of which have new tyres other 2 no good but if you want them you can have em for $50.

Might sound a little silly but just wanted to mention the obvious, you might need a liitle more air in your front tyres! Amazing the difference it makes if they are a little bit deflated!? I went from 205 to 215 to 225 tyres at the front and surprisingly the front steering has'nt changed that much even with a small sports steering wheel.

I chromed my previous grill before someone backed into me :evil: and I had to replace it with a black one thats 50/50 but I loved the way it looked chrome. If I find another straight grill at the right price I will definatley get it chromed again, looks great I reckon! I could'nt find any really close up pics.

For the front screen I installed a 92 honda civic blower motor which fits into original housing with very minor mod. About $20-$30 from a Jap wrecker.

Good to hear since I'll be using my current 240 carbs on the L28 sitting in the garage. To put things in persective what sort of 1/4 mile times can I expect to get with L28 with mild cam, 240z carbs, 280zx gearbox and stock diff ratio?

Gav it is summer and I think most members here would'nt have a/c in their cars for a drive straight up the Hume hwy to the border. The drive up is quite ordinary, no turn offs just one road to the border so it might be a good idea to try and work something else out with him.

Yer the issue with tyre limitations in 16 will always be a pain. Jeez I did'nt know the Superlights were that heavy! Oh well easy choice then, get custom wheels made up, about the $2000 mark or, buy Watanabes, at least $2500 or be patient and wait for a second hand set of wheels in the correct PCD and correct offset (might have to wait for a quite a while) and then the chance is 98% that the wheels would have to be modified to be wider for flares, more money!

Hi Evan, I sold out of those CF strutt braces, I can put you onto the company in the US that sells them but you'll prolly find the price they will charge a bit high since I bought a few sets from them at the time and the whole economy in numbers came into play there.

Hi Mr Camo, I believe I've seen Panasports or perhaps another American wheel like the Aussie Superlite that comes out in the 17" . Anyhow as I keep raving on about on this site, with surprisingly little response, superlights are my second choice for this setup. I'm really hanging to see someone do the 16x8 fronts and 16x10 rear with ZG's, that would look great! and for such a small price!?

I will consider it, but might be hard since I'll be away for a large portion of the next couple of months for work, will check and come back to you on this one.

Hey NZeder, I belive Ash will be selling blanks for AUD$35 ea so best to talk to him as he's the one making them. I'm sure he will chime in shortly on this thread. He's selling them blank. It was'nt very hard for me to paint them up. I used a flexible primer, followed by matt black all over except for the Z which I filled up with blue tack. When matt black was dry I sprayed the silver on card board and then dropped the badge face on the wet paint and pulled it off after a few seconds. Once dry I pulled out the blue tack and gave it a clear coat to finish it off. All the paint was in small $5 pressure pack cans I bought from the local auto shop and the whole thing took me about 45 minutes. Cheers Sulio

Hey Crowe, it's quite easy I just used Macromedia's Flash, it has a tutorial section as a good guide for first time users, if you have a play you'll pick it up easily I reckon. Picked up badges from Ash's and I painted them to original within an hour.

Good work Lurch. I did'nt see that pic, not sure about any of the other bits on the car. Got a sort of Porsche look to it I reckon.

Prolly some Japanese wheels, I could'nt say, sorry.
