  1. I'm guessing stone tray is that lower valance and not the radiator under / cooling tray? I'm interested in what interior bits look like, is it the diamond vinyl?
  2. Looks great actually, I vote for re-chrome of front bumpers (not painted) and consider a small lip front spoiler over the big air damns. (BRE type spook). Those wheels look good (the ones on there), why don't you have a go at polishing up those alloys to a mirror finish? I think they would look fantastic.
  3. That's unreal, almost can't give them away on this side of the world. Imagine shipping would kill you on these though. Otherwise I'd offer to help you out. Can probably get a set for 50 quid here.
  4. Look at the 2nd pic
  5. This is going to be amazing... those water mods are necessary for cooling the L-series? To prevent head gasket warpage?
  6. Custom made eccentric shafts. Kiwi RE is 1 place that makes them. http://www.kiwi-re.com/wwd_showroom_cat10.php *Edit proper link included.
  7. Single rotor's is where it's at. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOjk9RCzg9Y
  8. Definitely break it mate and get the good bits off it, Z31's are not worth anything and are rubbish cars. ...... Just kidding lol, wish I could see all your faces as you read that. Pauly, you picked up a rare car that some enthusiast will probably give you more money than you paid for it. You can turn around and sell it now for a tidy profit. Do you really want another project? I thought you sold up recently? Of course if you have fallen in love with it, go for it.
  9. Ding Dong. Great looking Z's welcome to the site.
  10. It's definitely priced on the high side for a 2+2, not saying it's not worth it but it's certainly worth trying a lower offer to see what happens. I would definitely get the car inspected by a professional, someone who specialises in classic cars. If possible bribe a W.A member with some beer . A good look under it to see chassis condition and look for possible rust spots, in particular dog legs, chassis rails and definitely under the battery tray! Rear hatch is another common area where moisture builds up along with spare wheel well. Is the dashboard good? Has a cover so hard to know if it's hiding any cracks. Looks like a great car overall and something you can enjoy and keep in original condition with many years of driving fun. However if it's been sitting around for a while it may need a general major service, like new fuel lines, suspension bushes, brake fluid flush or more depending on how under used the brakes have been? I'm very particular with my cars myself, so I would ask the owner for a video of the car (if you're interstate) and go over it and highlight any imperfections around the car (that normal still photos don't show up). Hard to say what value is, as I'm not sure what similar cars are selling for on the open market. I've not seen too many like this lately. Good luck with it all the same, they are fantastic cars and much better than similar machines of the same period selling for considerably more.
  11. Here is some free advice, from someone who's been there and done that, well not quite but I've been a broke student and I've spoken to Nigel (now Sexual_Sushi's car) about how he felt when he was putting it back together. Nigel told me, he wanted to sell his car for a ham sandwich when he scratched the paint fitting the brake lines to the firewall of his Z. He got so fed up and frustrated that he didn't want to know about it anymore. I think we can ALL relate to this, old cars like this require money, patience, skill and compromise. If you're feeling a bit sick of it now it's understandable but don't go and sell it for a fraction of what you have invested into it. It looks great and you've done lots of hard work. If you want to save some money that's fine, buy a cheap run-about something you don't care about getting a ding in, or leaving it in car parks for extended hours at a time. Put the Z on CH plates, insure it as a second car and drive it on weekends and other special occasions. It looks like your old folks have a garage, see if you can store it in there out of the weather and work on it when you feel like working on it. That way you're not rushing to put it back together for work the next day and can take your time to do it right. Less stress that way. Also don't be so sure about the Celica, my friend had 1 of those and blew a head gasket and had to rebuild the motor. He invested lots of cash in it and another friend of ours had the same car and even after the rebuild it was still slower than my other mates high mileage engine, drove him absolutely bananas. What I'm saying is you've spent lots of your money, time and effort into this car and to be honest there are still a few niggles to sort out. If you sell it now, someone else will pick up a bargain and sort out those niggles and probably have a great car for many years. When you don't have to drive 1 of these cars everyday, you'll soon realise how much fun it is when you do get it out and on the road. The noise, the seating position, the looks, the feeling of non-power steering. It's easy to forget how fun it is when it's a daily driver and you get stuck in traffic etc.. Of course you don't have to take any of this advice, but just offering some anyway. Last thing you want to do is list it for sale and deal with low ball offers and end up giving it away for 20 cents and a pack of tic tac's. Actually part of the reason I moved to Europe was that I was spending all my spare cash on Z-car parts and I figured while I'm young I'll go travel, see the world and come back to my Z in a couple of years. Now I'm glad I have it stored at my parents place and when I went home and fired it up and took it out in the sun (Oh how I miss the Aussie sun!) I had so much fun with it and thought to myself, "I could never sell this".
  12. Welcome, it sounds like a definite wiring issue. Perhaps it's incorrectly wired? It would be useful to know if you have electronic ignition in your car? 260z engine shouldn't make a difference. Perhaps post some pictures of the wiring set up around your ignition coil. How 'factory' does the wiring loom look? Or does it look like someone has fiddled with the cars wiring i n the past?

Just a tip guys, but if someone types 'John Wilson' in to Google there is a chance this discussion will come up (not now but in future). Now let's say John is somehow made aware of these discussions, he may make all your lives more difficult for calling him a 'knob' and slandering him on a forum. Perhaps try and be a little more diplomatic? You never know how things like this may impact you in future is all I'm saying.
  14. Just a thought, but do you think it makes sense as the Z31 becomes more of a 'classic' vehicle that it becomes incorporated into a site like this dedicated to classic z cars?
  15. Yes exactly and this is why people are so worried about electric cars, but in reality they don't drive that far..... Apparently owners of the Chevy Volt love it because they never have to put fuel in it . It just uses the electric motor all the time. LPG is actually a really good fuel also, much cleaner burn.
  16. Hey guys, I spoke to my mum last night about the property in Phillip Island and there is now details up on stayz.com.au for anyone interested. http://www.stayz.com.au/113513 Looks like it could host a lot of people, I wasn't able to find out anything re: discounts yet as she is going through a real estate agent for bookings but let me know if anyone is interested and I can try and look in to it for you.
  17. Oh dear I hope my rotary obsession isn't rubbing off on people? Anyway that car looks great only drawback is that those seats should be the black RZ recaro style not red (which is found on the later Spirit R and RZ models). Not a huge deal but at that asking price you would want it exactly as it should be. I still can't believe how cheap these cars are in Europe compared with Australia. *Edit just read full description, it's a replica not a genuine SP. Still has all the right parts though.
  18. All Japanese cars are limited to 180km, not sure if back in the day the 280zx ECU was limited to 180 but never cars are.
  19. I had not seen the ribbed ones. Any idea if they are still available? I would like 1 but don't want a cheap copy .
  20. These builds / videos just gave my life new meaning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpjPIj1YF0M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqaSSmx2o38
  21. Oh a good project car, but still pretty high in price considering what it will need. At least it looks like it's almost all there.
  22. Add should read, has been in family backyard for 15 years .
  23. Was referring to the original exhaust set up, not the new 1
  24. Hi Guys, So bit of an update, after dealing with insurance who wrote her off as repairable wreck. I bought it back from my insurance company for 750 euro. Here is some posts of the work I've been doing: http://www.irishrotary.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6540&start=60#p47199 http://www.irishrotary.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6540&start=75#p47502 So that leaves a couple of things to tidy up. 1. The dent in the roof. 2. The bent bracket where the fender joins the bumper etc.. A short video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBCMDARCvBI You can see that Mazda actually sells these bits of steel here: http://www.irishrotary.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6540&start=75#p47550 Here is a couple of questions: 1. Is it worth trying to panel beat this area / metal back into shape? I basically want it to all look OEM again. So you can't tell it was ever in any incident. 2. The parts car I pulled the bracket off is still sitting there. I can probably go out and get an angle grinder and hack this section out and have it welded in. 3. Here is a reference of what the area should look like: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-guvqzSJSqZA/T85y6oF9KSI/AAAAAAABDK0/WKcM26hqEFU/s640/93148223.jpg I'm hoping some metal work guru's on Auszcar can guide me in the right direction here. I did a short welding course like 8-9 years ago. I'm also willing to give panel beating a try but no idea what tools I should use and techniques. If I keep this car, I'm probably going to go for the 99 spec front bumper upgrade. http://www.austautokulture.com/index.php/features/featured-cars/saxon-s-2000-mazda-rx7/ However it's hard to find these parts in Europe I was thinking of ordering a front nose assembly from Australia but a.) shipping might be too expensive? and b.) I can't find someone reliable - does anyone know a good rotary specialist in Australia who might be able to give me a quote on said parts + shipping to Ireland? Thanks guys, anxious to get her going again but want to repair her right.
  25. By the way I'm biased but I love my rotors, they are relatively easy to work on, especially the early ones. Easy to extract more power too, carby upgrade + good exhaust system. If you want you can pull it apart and give it a bridge port brap brap brap.
