  1. ^^ Agreed, I would buy it if I was in the market for a car that didn't need much work. Note: Centre console is cracked around choke lever (not surprised). *edit mentions this in ad*. Also the vintage air con system, not my bag but period correct. Missing original badges - which I personally like. So definitely not original paint. If the body is rust free it's a good price. LPG won't save you much money so worth ripping it out. Don't think it should be too hard, might need to tune to suit regular fuel again? Depends on what you're after from a 240z, but I think it's well priced and fair given it's condition (at least from photos) and doesn't look to have been messed with. Of course if you can get it cheaper then you'll have spare change to fix a few things etc..
  2. Another thing I forgot to mention is that at the moment I'm only doing the 240z diamond vinyl, later 260z's sold in Australia had a more subtle pattern (smaller diamond shape) and the 2+2's obviously had a different trim from the rear back also. Again if there is enough demand for these type of kits to suit 2+2 and 260z owners I'm happy to look into doing that, provided I can get my hands on some original samples.
  3. Hi Guys, I'm looking to get the Diamond Vinyl interior replicated for the 240z. I'm wondering how many members would be interested in a kit - pending the outcome and quality of the items and of course price (which I don't have a fixed price on yet)? I am hoping to do it at a better price than existing available kits. It also looks like we will be able to do a range of colours - not just black, although I imagine black will be the most popular choice. The kit would include, the transmission tunnel, the area in front of the stowage bins, the rear strut towers. Here are some examples of what these looks like in different colours. (nothing has been made yet though!) I'm looking to start with 10 kits to make it viable. I am hoping to have a sample sent to me for quality purposes and if all good, give the go-ahead for the group of kits to get made up. I can't guarantee a colour match (anything other than black obviously) for those wanting to match to OEM door cards or seats - which are more than likely faded over the years, also I don't have samples for the other colour interiors. However if someone is able to send me some samples of these colours I might be able to work something out on that front? If all goes well with this I'm looking to do other items also. So in theory could be able to do matching vinyl, door cards, seat covers etc.. Let me know if you have any additional feedback, concerns or questions? I am aiming for as OEM look as possible, but if there is enough demand for something else I'm open to that also.

  5. @G that would be awesome, the man practices what I often preach with regard to Google Analytics - test and measure. Except his experiments require far more effort than mine usually do. He mentions in that talk using computers to measure a lot of this and gain insight into exactly what's happening. It's given me new interest from a computer science perspective how all this stuff comes together and how computers can be used to aid in putting together an engine package.
  6. By the way he talks about the A-series engine benefiting from a scatter cam (or dual pattern) design - does anyone know if the L-series suffers from the same issue that the A-series motors do and do they benefit from this type of camshaft profile? I've seen some variable camshaft sprockets available for the L-series so I can only assume that perhaps people have experimented with this in the past? I've never been more motivated to rip into an L-series engine . By the way I did a quick Google Search to see if anyone had mentioned these camshaft profiles before and stumbled across an old but good resource here: http://www.datsunzgarage.com/engine/
  7. Just going through the video still, learning so much. This should be essential viewing for anyone considering modifying their L-series. I've certainly learnt a lot and I've read the Datsun L-series how to modify books etc..
  8. Yeah start with timing (do you have a timing light?), do a compression test also to see if any of the cylinders are lower on compression. What are you running SU's? Triples? What distributor do you have points based or electronic? More details my friend. We need more.
  9. 240z or 1600 gearbox, not sure how to tell - if you can? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-1600-240z-5-speed-gearbox-/200992107129 Were they the same gearbox used in the 510 / S30?
  10. Pfft that's a Volkswagen dude. Not a Z
  11. This series is also awesome on mini performance modification. Part 2 has good details on engine head work etc..
  12. You guys are all nuts. How could you sell a testicle seriously? I like mine, my mother gave them to me.
  13. Always good to have a spare I say, better to have 1 and not need it, than need 1 and not have it.
  14. I hate you lol... nice score.
  15. I would need to check with my insurance company if they'll cover it. Right now it's on laid up cover with Enthusiast.
  16. Yeah exactly and no knowing how good the current work done to it is... therefore it's not worth $3,500 in my opinion. $2k is the most I would offer for something unknown. Unless you can speak to the workshop that's done the work so far and see what they would charge to complete it.
  17. Carb RB30 Twin Cam? Wasn't there an RB30 that was fed by a carby?
  18. RB30DET for sale. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/darling-heights/engine-engine-parts-transmission/rb30det-/1032776235
  19. 260z 2+2 with RB25DET http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/sydney-region/cars-vans-utes/datsun-260z-turbo-rb25det/1032669333 Asking $10k.
  20. That's what I figured, I don't think it's the wheel nuts since they are not on the outer edge. I had it aligned before I left Ireland and it was spot on, seemed to drift slightly to right the other day on freeway but sometimes the road has a slight curve so I gotta confirm this again. Not yet, I'll have to check they are not staggered wheels, pretty sure they are same all around but seem to remember the tires being wider on the rear than the front. Does the vibration usually only come from the front wheels though? Not the rears? Yeah exactly.
  21. Yes aftermarket wheels, but I've never seen this hub centric spacer what do they look like? And where would I get another from?
  22. I just booked my flights, so I'll be down for the day. Hooray. If my Zed is to make an appearance though it would need to be put on a trailer, since it's got no rego i'm afraid.
  23. I was just being facetious .
