  1. Holden Perentti on eBay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/holden-perentti-hq/321761722174 Not my cup of tea.. but hey it takes all types right?
  2. Just sold another clock on eBay this afternoon. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240z-Jeco-Clock-Quartz-Movement-/261889681645? I have 1 other clock refurbished clock that I might sell if anyone is interested. Still looking for original clocks if people are willing to sell them to me? Also interested in late 260z clocks and 280zx analog clocks for parts.
  3. I think weather might be a factor, summer spurs people into action of driving their car down along the beach etc.. Bit like people who only go to the gym when summer is a month away. I think you're under selling your skills mate, you put those motorcycle carbs on your engine didn't you? That is something many people (me) would be interested in learning more about the process and how you did it. Surely...
  4. Good work on the gearbox mod, might need to speak to you about that at some point for my early girl. As a side note this is build # 408 and still has the vents in the rear hatch. I wonder what the highest number early car was with the vents in hatch still.
  5. We need to have more events, I'd try and organise these but I've been so busy with work (still working now) and trying to perform this website upgrade I haven't had time to work on the car or go on holiday ....
  6. Someone told me that they miss Peter Mac's posts... I don't have much to add in terms of body work, because my Tafe Course was cancelled this quarter. What content are you looking for? And better yet what content have you created?
  7. I was just looking today, not many 2+2s on the market at all... Used to be several around now it seems they have all disappeared. Where will we get our spares parts from now?
  8. Do and don't agree, early rotary coupe's are particularly valuable in our market and more appreciated here than they are in say the US / North American markets. I think S30z's have been slow to appreciate yes, but in the last couple of years things have certainly changed. The old "Jap Crap" tag is slowly becoming a relic of the past. Frankly I'm surprised by the increased interest in recent year, even in some lesser known Japanese stuff. Websites like Speedhunters have put a magnifying glass over these makes with a younger generation. Just the other day I was at the Cinema and saw an Video Arcade Machine with an S30z on it, you see them more and more in pop culture, music videos, movies, tv programs, automotive programs (recently wheeler dealers) etc.. Funny enough when some complained that I was posting international cars for sale in the third party car sales thread etc.. I decided to split the thread into the global market and local market threads. Although not many have replied on the global thread I can tell you it's 1 of the most popularly viewed threads on this site...So there is definitely interest in what's happening in the market on a global level.
  9. 240k's are popular in the middle-east. I've also been asked to keep an eye out for a 240K for someone in California.
  10. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/banjup/wrecking/console-to-suit-datsun-240z-early-type-hand-throttle-/1079116981 Early 240z console with hand throttle bracket (which is hard to find now). Looks like it's in good condition. Asking price $200 which is very reasonable...
  11. You should worry about haha. LOOK AT THEM, A WHOLE 3 MINS of GORGING THEMSELVES ON CLASSIFIED PHOTOS.
  12. Rev - I might be able to help find you 1 if you get really desperate seen a couple for sale in Japan, only problem is good second hand ones can be quite expensive. Which almost makes it worth buying the pair (NOS) that rare spares have.
  13. The S30z market is a global market, I'm surprised people in the UK haven't been looking here earlier. Given that we have 'correct hand drive'. What have I been saying all along anyway? HS30's are rare. HSL30's are common but even they are becoming more rare as time goes by. I've seen a few ex-Australian/NZ car's in Japan for sale (HS30's) but not Fairlady 240z's for sale. So a few made their way over there. When the Global Recession happened in the UK back in 2007/8 a lot of Ferrari's and Aston Martins were sold to Australian's..When the GBP dropped in value. That is actually my only concern about this.... What I suspect may have been going on here too! http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=15414.0 Dodgy bastard was telling me about how a mechanic down in Hawthorn was selling cars (S30z's) overseas and making a good profit. I have heard this urban legend before. I read between the lines anyway... Don't trust ADM motors in Caulfield.
  14. He may have done alright out of his time as a musician. I think being in a band (as a career) takes a lot of faith and belief in yourself, not unlike being an entrepreneur, you really have to be willing to make sacrifices and hope that in the long term it pays off. Perhaps his music career was drying up and he had enough money set aside and an idea and with that he got some investors interested and used that venture capital funding to kick start his dream. That's what the shark tank show is all about, venture capitalists critiquing your business. To be honest many 'investors' go for businesses like this, simply because they love cars like the rest of us. They don't expect to get a great return, but the boy inside them wants to do something exciting in their life. Not just invest in the next company that sells plush toys for dogs. . How else do all those Supercar companies ever get off the ground?
  15. Yep, I feel the same actually. To restore a car to a really high standard and not get to enjoy it seems a bit depressing. However I think in the Singer situation they are taking cars that are past their normal use (they are tired 911s) and then stripping them down, and fitting a package that has been sort of pre-packaged in advance. There is obviously room for bespoke input and then they sell the car and keep track of it after that. So it's likely these cars end up getting serviced again by Singer and they become the care takers. I think that could be satisfying in that you're a care-taker of these unique cars and you get to look at beautiful cars all day. Maybe sometimes drive them also. But you also get to make people really happy and sell a product you really believe in and feel passionate about. I don't think you do it for "the money" because to be honest there is far easier ways to make money in this world that involve far less hassle.
  16. Yep that sounds like a lot more reasonable price for the RB conversion to me. I see people thinking they can swap an LSX motor in an FD RX7 for $12k. But the reality is it costs more like 20K to do the conversion right. People just have a habit of adding up the costs of the main items and assuming it will all come together for that price. The hidden costs is what stings most people, plus engineering, plus time, plus the cost of little fittings, hoses and components - they all add up quickly. Hence engine conversions are expensive endeavors and it makes more financial sense to buy an already converted car like this. I'm going to say that I believe this car is worth about $22k in it's current form provided the diff is fixed and the car is in road worthy shape. It won't appeal to a purist in it's current form but will appeal to someone who is looking at doing the conversion on their own. They can view it as a rolling restoration, something they can enjoy and complete on their own time.
  17. Lots of money! haha and a dream. I think he built an early 911 that got a lot of attention in the community and then from there had people asking him to build similar cars.
  18. Nice pick up, or it could have been replaced due to rust (somewhat ironic given the fact it rusted again).
  19. Let's just see if this car has already sold first .
  20. Ok ok, i'll comment.... So my overall feel was that the car's bodywork looked good in the photos, but the parts fitted were not really within the zeitgeist I would like to see for an early S30z. For example why go to so much effort to build a car to that standard and then slap those cheap looking fender mirrors on it. I personally can't stand those mirrors but that's a minor detail. The fender flares we have debated many times over but I think are out of place on an early S30z that is 'restored'. The wheels were too modern for my tastes, I'd prefer something with a bit of history or patina but that just might reflect a change in taste for me personally and be my personal opinion. I'd prefer it to say have Watanabe's in black or some other period wheel. The carbon bonnet is more of a resto mod thing also, a fiberglass flat black hood would be a better alternative. Hat tip to the 432-R etc.. The blacked out chrome could be forgiven if going for the period race look (like the 432-R) but the front spoiler just somehow makes her look too modern. The interior looks great from what I can see and it looks like a lot of parts were correctly refurbished. Of course a lot of these things (the flares excluded) could be reversed relatively easily. I just think an early S30z like this has more appeal if it looks a bit more true to the period. It is interesting that if the car has sold so quickly that a car like Adam's Brown Hornet took so long to move when I think Adam's car was a better buy and a better price... Anyone know if this car has a matching engine number?
  21. Hey Rev, I'm more interested in the OEM stuff but thought that photos would certainly help others who might be interested. I'm also curious to see what it looks like.
  22. Maybe I've missed it, but is there photos of what this stuff looks like?
  23. Well I was going to comment, but if it's already sold no point....
  24. Not exactly SpeedHunters, but StanceWorks. Same thing really... http://www.chromjuwelen.com/de/network/345-stanceworkscom/190915-the-reason-were-here-riley-stairs-ls6-powered-1974-datsun-260z.html Rat Rod Theme..
