  1. Yes freight would be a killer, but 2+2's are seldom seen in the US these days. I believe I've seen 2+2's being parted out on Craigslist.org in the US.
  2. I just hope values don't go mental. That will take the fun out of it for many including me. I'd be happy to see these cars get higher quality work and components on them along with repairs and more period spec builds but paying through the nose for parts will take some of the fun out of it. I've contemplated selling my rx7 because some parts are eye wateringly expensive, the s30z seemed cheap to maintain in comparison but some parts are creeping up in value. In some cases a bit beyond reasonable. What holds back the values of later Fairlady in my opinion is nothing to do with targa tops and more to do with being FatLadys along with difficulty working on as a home mechanic. Sure they are much more comfortable and easy to live with on a daily driven basis but just not as much basic grassroots fun. Plus the styling is just no match for the earlier simple and stunning lines. Maybe age will do them good like the 240ks though?
  3. I like the pressed vinyl on the 1/4 plastic. Looks OEM. I actually prefer the flatter pressed vinyl over the more padded look on the strut towers. Interior should look good when it is back together.
  4. Yeah fishing for info to help him flog it on...
  5. Yep, I don't know of any good Nissan dealerships in Australia that will help you source S30z parts. If you have part no's of what you need let me know?
  6. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/260Z-Datsun-2-2-late-drivers-side-door-bare-shell-Glen-Iris-Melbourne-/281711691276 @BIA42A - perhaps start your own wanted thread?
  7. I've used Q-Bond in the past, it might be worth a try. It's pretty expensive but I have the stuff already.
  8. I've got a rough idea of how many searches are done each month for a 240z vs say an R100, RX-2, RX-3 etc.. Although I've not dug too deep on the data on the surface it would appear that searches for a 240z grossly outnumber the early rotary coupe's. I've not checked 260z by the way, So I'm not surprised to find 240z wanted ads on Gumtree. If you look for 240k's on Gumtree you'll only find various wanted ads.
  9. I'm usually familiar with most S30z's in that I've seen them at some point on the market but not this car. It's new to me.
  10. Great worst case scenario you may need to extend the center pin a bit like someone has done here. It feels like a hard plastic glue and it's stuck on pretty well. Anyone care to have a guess as to what it might be?
  11. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-5/ Sold for $18K USD. To quote myself.
  12. haha no, I still want seller to confirm the center post (pin) is long enough to clip housing and lens together. As you can see on the Classiczcars.com thread Dr. 240z wasn't happy about that. If that issue is still unresolved the MSA ones might be the better option. In which case I'll check if everyone is still in.
  13. Yes I was going to suggest same book.
  14. Makes sense mate, that's why I thought it was good to speak to him first. As we saw with another well documented build here without the right manifold combination people can 'fudge' the install.... Agree it's good value when you consider cost of importing said parts from abroad and potential issues you can have.
  15. Have you spoken to Wilkins about this? I know he's pretty busy at the moment. Still waiting on my motor for it's overbore and cleaning.
  16. Ok great, but just so you're all aware the center post on these may not be long enough. Just trying to get clarification on that now. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50787-better-than-new-240z-taillight-trim/#entry471160
  17. Oh and Ron can correct me if I'm wrong but this doesn't look like a Quartz movement clock correct? Which adds to the cost because you have to source the mechanism and as Ron has told me not all mechanisms are great quality. So this is still the original internals if that's what you're after.
  18. Just so you know, I had to send my clock to the US at a cost of ~$40-$60, then refurbish them for a cost of $200 each then ship them back. I had the clocks already so they were free. I just got my invoice from eBay, cost me $34 in listing fees for a clock I sold for $300 AU. I also lost out on Postage by about $10. So I pretty much made a loss... If Ron can offer the clock at $180 USD and you're thinking about it, I don't think you can do better than that. As I've discovered trying to import parts and offer them to the community I sometimes make a loss... Bottom line I won't be using eBay again - what a rip off!
  19. I mean if there is a particular fastener you want and style I may be able to tell you where you can source it if Nissan says it's NLA. Unfortunately I don't know of any kit that will cover an entire car that can be purchased. My impression of the kits is that they will get you 90% there and are not 'original' per say. The original Nissan ones often had numbers on top that indicate their strength etc.. I think if you were to price up bolts on their own and order them separately the kits would look like good value. I'm probably going to retain what I can of the originals I have (Depending on their application, obviously engine bolts should be changed) and will try and get mine zinc/chromate plated to their original sheen.
  20. When a Fairlady Z-L costs $50k. http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d168316719 and Sydney dog boxes (I mean houses) cost 1.7M why are you surprised? http://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2015/06/one-day-in-the-life-of-a-sydney-beijing-auction/
  21. Maroon GP and G-Nose? Yes....
  22. Hi Guys, I've been in contact with the seller here. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50787-better-than-new-240z-taillight-trim/ If we order 10 sets of these we can get them at $110 USD a pair instead of the $130 USD regular price. I got a quote for re-chroming originals and it was going to be $165 AU locally 2 week wait, no fasteners and if your mounting pins are busted, well stiff you know what! You also have to factor in $165 + postage both ways and flat black paint (another $10-$15) so in my opinion this is the best option out there and apparently if you read the hype the chrome finish will be more durable than the older technique. I'm happy to help organise this, I'd buy 10 pairs have them sent to me in Sydney and then use Auspost to send to you, I'm going to guess that the price would be max $12 Australia wide insured. Can I get an expression of interest? If this goes ahead I'll probably ask that you pay up front via PayPal or Bank Deposit (whatever works best for you!) and we may need to split the postage into 2 lots to avoid the total value being over $1000 AU. I haven't finalised this detail yet. At this stage just looking for interested parties, I'm not making any money out of this. Simply doing it as a service to the community. Whatever it costs me is what it will cost you. 1. Gav240z 2. d3c0y 3. stavros240 4. zed74 x2 sets 5. shaun240 6. ackent1 7. KatoKid 8. George Only 1 set to go.
  23. Hey Will, We met many years ago! You're Canadian from memory? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14206.0.html I believe your car is on the far right here. It was pretty clean and rust free back then from memory, must only be better now! I think my mate might still have footage when he was in your car with his camera filming on a night drive. I'll have to see if I can get it off him.
  24. If that's a no go, let me know and I might be able to help you source 1. Edit* Try harder. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240Z-Left-Hand-70-73-door-glass-/301646658377 The seller is a member here, Zedman240 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=801
