  1. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-2/ 907 Green 71 240z for sale on Bring A Trailer. Current Bid: USD $12,500 Time Left: 5 days, 21 hours, 32 minutes, 42 seconds * Bids: 9 Center console, radio look incorrect for year. Dash caps are also a turn off for me.
  2. The front does remind me of early works 240z race cars, before the gnose was available they had been experimenting with changes to the front-end to improve cooling and aerodynamics. Unfortunately I couldn't find more short-nose examples. (Some images of 240ZR's below) http://www.yatsuzaka.com/gallery/PC/N-Z.HTML
  3. Yes it is. Car looks relatively solid and straight so would maybe be an ok purchase with a view to reversing the customisations. Although a smoothed off rear bumper is harder to fix than the front-end.
  4. Yes I pulled apart an L28 that was sitting for 20 years and it came apart relatively easily, even the seized piston came out quite easily once I tore it all down...So this does seem unusual.
  5. Even when I removed my head bolts it took a bit of persuasion for the head to come off. I could tap it with a mallet to break the seal between the block and head, with a snapped bolt still in there it might be hard to get any sort of movement. As mentioned try some penetrating fluid to see if you can break the bind. Good luck, never saw a broken head bolt before though!
  6. Geez GongZ, you're a better Z detective than I, better step up my game . Since we are on the topic of "why bother engine conversions" I'm sure you've seen and heard of this also? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/2782-valiant-265-hemi-in-a-240z/ I saw more photos of this car a while ago, but can't find them now.
  7. People do odd things... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/3206-35l-v8-conversion-for-240z/
  8. Oh dear, this whole thread is a bit like this video.
  9. Sorry gone. There was 1 on eBay US but it was in tatty shape and with currency conversion would cost more than this. If I find another I'll let you know.
  10. As much as I like the 432-Rs I feel the same, a bit naked without.
  11. St George Tafe Just spoke with Gary because I hadn't heard any confirmation on this and he said he would send me some info today. So looks like this is confirmed. I still don't see it listed on the website but if you look here: http://sydneytafe.edu.au/course-details/AUR32412-01V01/certificate-iii-in-automotive-refinishing-technology#results- You can see details on how to contact the auto body section and if you call the numbers there you should be able to find out more. For those interested in the St Leonard's option you can find details on that here: http://www.nsi.tafensw.edu.au/Courses/CourseDetail/panel-beating-for-car-enthusiasts/tafe-plus-statement/158-25556V01
  12. Site appears to be down (500 errors are server based), best I could find was this. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:dkiY188TRLEJ:www.autoline.com.au/buy/showroom.aspx%3Fpage%3D4%26vtype%3Dcar+&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au Image was broken.
  13. Yeah a friend of mine was really into Toyota's and used to complain a lot about the fact that we only got the boring motors in most of our variants. I distinctively recall giving him a hard time about the RA40 Celica and a review that said the motor was about as exciting as a trip to the dentist. Still not a massive fan of the RA40s although give them a couple more years and I might mellow a little more on them .
  14. From memory that car was up for sale in South Australia a while ago, had a modified nose cone if I recall correctly. It was certainly not everyone's tea cup.
  15. Cool little Mitsubishi.
  16. If you have the link I usually check Google's cache of the page. To do that simply put the URL into Google's search box and then when you see the URL listed in the search result, there will be a green URL below the heading in blue and a small down arrow next to it, click on the down arrow and you should see a menu item "cached" click on that to see what Google-bot saw when it indexed the URL. See attached screenshot. I have other methods also, such as archive.org - but lately I've found it to be flakey. *Edit archive.org result for a previously indexed pages.. 17. Until you sonic test the block so prospective buyers can tell how much overbore can be applied hard to give a value. 1 sold for around $500 recently but could be given a bore to 88.5mm or so. Not everyone wants to build a stroker but I've got an L28 sitting here that nobody showed much interest in and I only wanted $100 or so dollars for it.
  18. On the same topic, may have found an unregistered 180B SSS coupe. The question is, when exporting a car outside of Australia does anyone know what paper work needs to go with the car to prove ownership? Or is it a case of the checks are only an issue on the other end?
  19. You have seen George's build thread? This car looks worse to start with...
  20. If it helps black is a horrible colour to keep clean No bias here.
  21. You really have to look at it and evaluate. I am guessing if the car is that bad the roof will be pretty bad also. I'd be surprised if the whole car didn't come apart towing it out of that spot.
  22. As a man who has been there and done it George I will take your word for it. Plus my landlord would probably go into cardiac arrest if he saw that dump in the yard. Even if the plan was to turn it into canned food. It would make a good old mess...
  23. That field photo is awesome, I could just imagine a vintage S30z sitting in the middle of it. Would be a great photo.
  24. You want those plastic heater vents? To be honest if I had a trailer I'd consider going down and grabbing it, stripping it down and cutting it up and parting it out. But I don't have a trailer and my 4 wheel drive is a 1.3ltr Suzuki Jimny that couldn't pull weeds out of the ground in terms of torque. There would be some useful parts there.. but quite a bit of effort and you'd want to have your tetanus shots up to date.
  25. My goodness.. Even if it was a super low vin # there is no way you'd restore that? Surely not? I mean... Not even the door wants part of that mess. I'd almost be tempted to go look at it and see if there is anything that could be salvaged. Somehow I don't think much on there is useful anymore.
