  1. Nope, I just managed to get the photos and description before it was taken down. Ad says sold no longer available.
  2. Already sold, lots of bog in the 1/4 panel but otherwise looks original and a good deal. Brown on brown combo seems to only have been available for 2 years. 74/75 and was phased out in 76/77.
  3. I had my wheel balance done by a local tyre shop, who also chipped the paint on my RX-7. Useless wankers. So I took it to another shop that specialised in RX-7's and he redid the wheel balance and fixed the issue (mostly, there is still a slight vibration I get around 80 km/h that goes away at 90-100). I'd suggest taking it to another shop that does a proper job.
  4. Yeah it's had a front end shunt which was pretty hard from the looks of it, this car needs to be fully blasted down to bare metal and probably many panels unpicked to really treat the rust. I hope you're up for it? It certainly looks to have spent some time outside judging by the corrosion its got. A big project but it's a 2 seater and not many left out there now. Good luck!
  5. d3c0y posted a link to reproductions above. They look as good as new to me?
  6. Combination of being lazy, and just not caring enough.
  7. Any update George? Just found this page also. http://woodworkerb.com/home/datsun-240z-rebuild/wiring-harness-refresh/ Which links to this site for vintage style connectors. http://www.vintageconnections.com/
  8. Worth a try . I missed out on 1 on Yahoo! Auctions recently. Getting harder to find.
  9. I love this thing.. Not sure why though. I think it is the steel wheels with the black flares and odd ball square shape. Good parts hauler.
  10. Perfect! Funny how Safari Gold looks almost yellow in certain lighting situations. Black watanabe's are perfect contrast. Exactly how I want mine to look. RE: Stock valance, I've never been a big fan of the big front aero spoilers etc.. In terms of aesthetics anyway. My 260z had 1 and for me it destroys the flowing lines of the S30z. I don't mind a minor lip spoiler like the Nissan Scuderia style version though.
  11. Yeah pretty much true, I had my Mazda RX-7 detailed top to toe before being put in a container to the tune of 300 euro and yet when it arrived they decided it still needed cleaning.
  12. Hi Everyone, I just came across this service and repair manual for early Hitachi AM radios. Model name: TM-1081ZB. This radio was found in all Aussie delivered 240z's since we didn't get FM radio until 1974. The repair manual is useful for those looking to restore their radio. See attached manual. hitachi_tm-1081-zb_all_transistor_auto_radio_1970_sm.pdf
  13. Hi Nathalie, thanks so much for joining and sharing the car with us. Do you know of many other low HS30 VIN's in the UK? It seems quite a few Australian delivered cars have made their way over the UK over the years.
  14. Nat0 was doing chassis rails see this thread here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/9634-240z-260z-replacement-engine-bay-floor-rails-now-available-sa/ You can probably beat the under tray into shape again. Getting harder to source these now. Does the radio work? If so please sell it to me. That is all
  15. Hi Albert, Great car and I'm sure the members here will appreciate knowing where the car has ended up. Hopefully we can dig up some history on it for you and find the previous owner(s). The car wasn't really well known in this community until it showed up for sale. I believe the Sydney Z Car Club may have been familiar with it though.
  16. Thanks for stopping by and signing up Albert. I am the Gavin who has corresponded with you over email.
  17. My Safari Gold car isn't finished yet, if you're looking at the start of my build thread. Those cars are examples of what I'd like it to be when finished. But thanks anyway. Oh I want them alright, but I'm in the middle of an engine build for it. So maybe after that's finished! Although I'd honestly prefer a slightly less than perfect pair because as soon as you drive with them your gonna get bugs, rocks etc.. which will sandblast them . It's also too bad USD vs AUD is so poor...
  18. Thanks, but they are too nice for my car(s). I wouldn't want to use them.
  19. Thanks but when quoting, please try not to include the photos again in the quote. Edited post. Well can't say I'm surprised.
  20. Look at the bidding history, you can see many of the bids are from eBay users with a lot of eBay history. They don't appear to be phantom accounts set up to drive bids higher.
  21. I should probably merge these 2 threads. But we discussed it a couple of days ago here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13091-why-you-shouldnt-buy-anything-from-edward-scissorhands-lee/?p=173236
  22. Wholeheartedly agree... #299, #596 and #675 (see thread here), have all been exported to the UK recently. Whilst I have no problem with people in the UK wanting an S30Z, it's a bit depressing to see them leave Australia. Less cars here = less of a market = less specialists / workshops to cater to these cars. So whilst I'm happy so long as they end up in good hands, I really want them to stay here if possible. We have so few left as it is.. Take a look at sites like: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/and www.pistonheads.co.uk to see what prices are being asked over that side of the pond for a good 240z/260z 2 seater. It's my estimation that of the original 3000 or so 240z's brought here, only 10% survive today. So about 300, not all of which are currently on the road (many undergoing restoration). 260z 2 seaters were imported in even fewer numbers than 240z's. I can't recall the exact numbers now but that means there can't be many 2 seaters left in total.
  23. My mum and aunt both drove 70s Corona's at 1 stage because the family business bought them as sales rep cars. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/westbrook/cars-vans-utes/81-toyota-corona-swap/1104483886 Amazing what a set of wheels and lowering can do for a car's profile. I'd prefer the earlier 70s version (RT104) with the round lights and the rounded dashboard cluster. My mum's car was white with brown vinyl interior. Like this. https://www.flickr.com/photos/69949808@N00/6867018713/ When the backend stepped out due to worn tyres on the way to school 1 day, my mum yelled out "shit!", which for my mum was quite rare (to swear) so I'll always remember that car and incident. Funny.
  24. You'll have to look back over this thread to get an idea of how values have changed over the years. Likewise the classified ads have been kept and make excellent records. Not the best tool, but a useful indicator. Hagerty has a valuation guide / tool that shows you how values have moved. https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1970-Datsun-240Z It says January 2015 is when values started to increase rapidly, interesting it's the 45 year rule too! This is American market values, cars in the 7,000 - 8,000 range these days are only for those planning to do big budget restorations. Even then it's hard to find a 240z project under $10k these days. S30z's in general are far more available in the US but a lot of the low end stuff is junk. Many cars have been tarted up too and look good in photos but in reality are basket cases. Generally speaking the cheapest market to find an S30Z is still North America, Europe, Japan and even here values have started to soar. Better to get in sooner than later...* *Disclaimer: But as someone who believes in the existence of asset bubbles, classic cars included. Make your own judgement...
  25. $15k doesn't go far anymore for a 2 seater. Even 2+2's are hard to find in decent shape around this price point.
