  1. From what I have been able to determine, it appears to be an original and not a reproduction. In which case I feel like I fleeced Gareth price wise. But hopefully he's ok with that. Just installed it.
  2. Got this today!
  3. Just merged your threads, you had 2.
  4. I've actually just gone and updated my preferences so that I get immediate notifications rather than daily ones for new listings. Half the time I'm missing these cars as they sell so quickly.
  5. Worth it in parts alone if you consider: 1. Ashtray looked complete and unbroken. $550 USD. 2. Topy wheels all there: $1,200 AUD (at a guess). 3. TM-1081ZB(S) radio = $600-$1000 AUD. 4. Original parts, like steering wheel, dashboard (even cracked), console, seats etc..(let's say $1,000 min) 5. Good 1/4 panels? Doors? / Hatch? It's well worth it for the sum of parts, I was tempted to try snap it up. Take the bits I want (like Topy wheels) and sell it onward.. Hopefully new owner registers here and we can get the chassis no. looks like an earlier car and would love to document it.
  6. I think if you take the long term view, realise there is no rush to get it done, since you already have a 240z you can drive and just approach it from a patient perspective you'll be fine.
  7. http://page23.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o174618088 Datsun compe handle.
  8. Yeah promotion of this event has been a little lack-luster. Subscribing to thread.
  9. So you paid a deposit and it was still sold to someone else?
  10. Yeah small world indeed. Exciting new project.
  11. It's sold already no doubt phone rang off the hook. I wonder what number it was? I'm guessing 1000 - 1500 range.
  12. Whenever I drive from Sydney -> Melbourne I often see paddocks with abandoned cars in them and wonder if an s30z or some other old Datsun like a 240k is in amongst them. I like seeing farm finds like these and love the photos of it leaving the farm. It tells the story. Canberra is the place to find them with little rust. ?. It looks like it could be an early 76 based on VIN. Where was it posted Gumtree?
  13. Ran Mclurkin is that Ashley's father from Moorabbin Auto Spares? Pretty sure he raced these? But maybe getting my wires crossed?
  14. It's a 71 in 907 Green. It has Datsun badges all over it. Not Fairlady Z parts. No doubt an HS30. Good buy looks very original with Topy steel wheels and Hitachi head unit.
  15. I'm trying to do same thing actually. With doors, bonnets, hatches, steel wheels, roofs etc..
  16. I've been eyeing these off for ages, but can't afford / justify at this moment. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1267301188 Not sure how well the 6.5 inch would sit at the front of an S30Z.
  17. http://page19.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x477309837 Starting bid: 3,000,000 yen ($36k AUD) Buy it now: 20,000,000 yen ($241k AUD) LY28 engine for sale? Hmm....
  18. Interesting hatch repair method, did you get much distortion doing it that way? I'm guessing it needed a skim of filler?
  19. http://www.ebay.com/itm/122359518037?_trksid=p2060353 Early 240z Airbox without flapper (AU Market only got this style of air box). Still has original decal / label. Appears to be in excellent shape!
  20. Bus Ride. 2:15 in, you'll spot a Nissan Fairlady 240ZR.
  21. Cheap Ferrari? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4242198/Vintage-Ferrari-hidden-apartment-30-years.html
  22. Pretty sure those are Irish roads, drove a few of those, but not at those speeds. Some great scenery when it's not raining.
  23. Yes mine in the 72 were pretty weak, not that it's driven often in the rain, but I heard from another member (Tony) a way to upgrade to an 80amp alternator whilst keeping the stock look and that along with an improved motor may help make these things user-friendly. The only thing I can't work out is how to get the intermittent function to work and I'd like to make this a plug and play set up so you could revert back to a stock motor if desired. Not sure if much can be done to improve the original motors? I kind of view this upgrade like going to electronic ignition. Pragmatic, even if I like things original.
  24. Just looking at this thread because someone posted about this modification on Facebook. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/26561-honda-wiper-motor-upgrade-for-the-240z/ Video of the conversion and how it works.
  25. Roadster Type 2 Mikuni N44PHH-A5a http://page14.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/s518370936 Currently at: (AU$610.04)
