  1. If someone wants to suggest a durable paint that will is scratch resistant like the original I'd consider it. Yeah I have heard lots of stories about powdercoating etc.. but I actually think it's a very durable finish and a great option. Some good information in this video from Eastwoods. Although the small guy won't shut up for 20 seconds. I am actually considering doing the underbody components (suspension), swap bars etc.. with powdercoating. I heard people on here say that if you get a chip in it, then it can rust underneath etc.. but honestly since when were the underbody struts, sway bars, etc.. a concern for rust on these cars? Also you can do multiple coats of powder which should help resist issues like chipping.
  2. Perfect I kept the remnants of the old rubbers for comparison.
  3. Apparently Chevy Orange is close. After 45 years in a hot engine bay the paint is obviously faded to a less than stellar orange. How it currently looks. https://photos.app.goo.gl/KhtmEN25s6iamtV93 Here is an example that was on eBay a while ago (in very good shape). https://photos.app.goo.gl/IgMSFTyq6Hwbx7Wj1 It looks almost blood orange.
  4. Yes, or as close to the original colour as possible.
  5. Hey Folks, Anyone know if Clarke rubber or similar has something suitable for the 240z airbox? I can order these. But they are pretty expensive, so hoping a local alternative exists. It is just a rubber strip after all. http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/5696404
  6. Hey Folks, Can anyone recommend a powder coaters in the Inner West of Sydney (preference)? I want to get my 240z airbox powdercoated in that lovely orange colour. However a lot of powdercoating places have terrible websites and specialise in industrial fences etc.. so may not be good with smaller intricate items like an Airbox? Looking for recommendations or if you've got a kit and done it at home with success (Eastwoods?). The guy who did my RX-7 brakes only does it as a hobby and his oven wasn't big enough to fit the airbox.
  7. Ok so for those who have sent off parts for passivate plating before, do you recommend not sending tiny parts and washers? How much stuff have you had go missing? I've taken fairly meticulous photos of all the bits and pieces off 1 SU carb. Going to disassemble the other side and sent all the fasteners for plating. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ewb1ZWYoF5QJH7ey2 The carb bodies will be vapour blasted along with other alloy parts. Probably manually polish the domes. Airbox is going to get powdercoated.
  8. I'll have to check the registry that I didn't make a boo boo.. I've found mistakes a couple of times..
  9. Preaching to the converted.
  10. Clueless idiot. PS: for those who can't tell what sarcasm looks like. I like 2+2s...
  11. That gold colour 2+2 looks like this 1 for sale at the moment. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1924-cars-for-sale-3rd-party-sites-ebay-carsales-etc/?p=204200
  12. Z32's are at their low point in values right now. I suspect they will pick up in value soon. Supra's, RX-7's, Skylines have already started to increase in values. These have lagged a bit.
  13. #FakeNews, only that fat bloke driving it on the cover would believe it.
  14. Thanks, very cool.. I like the look of them, but didn't know they had a functional purpose. You must be excited to use your set on the ZG!
  15. I can ask him if he has the glass, Topy's will do my best to get matching stamps. If Spellbound doesn't have them, my friend in SFO may (or between the 2 lots we may be able to complete sets). But 1 shipment at a time.
  16. So I finally got onto CSC Fuel Systems in Burwood (Parramatta Rd). Spoke to him about roller bearings being used in Throttle shafts. But he hadn't heard of it before. http://www.carburettorservice.com.au/ He could however recommend a place in Sydney for gold passivate plating on fasteners etc.. http://www.xtremefuelsystems.com.au/index.php Nigel Campbelltown 02 4625 7889 - apparently they also have a tumbler which is good for polishing the bodies on the SUs.
  17. Looks like originally a 918 colour car with an auto gearbox? If anyone gets the chassis no. please let me know?
  18. Ad from Zack on Gumtree. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/penrith/wrecking/datsun-240z-260z-parts-and-cars-wanted/1184297255
  19. Bridgestone RD150. https://photos.app.goo.gl/G2Ts2t4SdMNRtftm2 That was out of a Review featuring a 73 model 240z license plate: LMJ-974 (Victoria) For an earlier car in another article. https://photos.app.goo.gl/JmbHmB2Eptx1T8m02 Dunlop SP sport radials (Aquajets). Featured car was an early 240z with license plate: KSE-731 (Victoria) but car pictured on cover of magazine was NSW reg: BQD-327 But who knows if the test car was changed or fitted with different tyres later? Full articles here: https://goo.gl/photos/yGt15kkjKMxXx6Sb8 Another features a car that says 175SR Bridgestone tyres are fitted, but these could have been replacements?
  20. L24 for sale here. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/peak-crossing/engine-engine-parts-transmission/l24-engine-and-gearbox/1182103370 L24 - 167283 (It looks like). Would probably suit a 240z in the range: HS30-102195 - > HS30-102587
  21. Just to clarify do you want early seats with the hand wind down recliner mechanism, or the later ones with the adjuster lever on the bottom part? 71 is a bit of an odd ball transition period for things like this (if memory serves correctly) so not sure which you are searching for?
  22. When I lived in Caulfield, there was a Fire Station along North Road (Ormond) around 1999 / 2000 and I saw a 260z exactly like this parked there. I guess it was owned by a Fire Fighter? https://www.google.com.au/maps/uv?hl=en&pb=!1s0x6ad669131ecbfb87:0xf1c7a840d18a7848!2m22!2m2!1i80!2i80!3m1!2i20!16m16!1b1!2m2!1m1!1e1!2m2!1m1!1e3!2m2!1m1!1e5!2m2!1m1!1e4!2m2!1m1!1e6!3m1!7e115!4s/maps/place/Ormond%2BFire%2BStation/@-37.9020522,145.0256025,3a,75y,12.86h,90t/data%3D*213m4*211e1*213m2*211sb5G3rd6eW27N561bZVuw_A*212e0*214m2*213m1*211s0x6ad669131ecbfb87:0xf1c7a840d18a7848!5sOrmond+Fire+Station+-+Google+Search&imagekey=!1e2!2sb5G3rd6eW27N561bZVuw_A&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiM6ZvxyovbAhUBxLwKHfP9DEkQpx8ImAEwDg I recall stopping by 1 day to look at it and seeing everything in good condition and original and thinking wow! I wonder if it's the same car?
  23. Will attempt to answer my own query. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/6711-researching-a-le-mans-260z-info-appreciated/?p=77711 However I would love to know what the purpose of bead stoppers are on said wheels?
