  1. haha, not for snowflakes.
  2. 14 seconds in is when you see the clear indicator lens I donated to Hung make a run for it. He sent me the video to tell me the part was defective lol... Good thing it was already cracked/damaged (hence why it was donated for free).. would have been a heart breaker if it was a new 1. I have a pair of amber ones (US style ones) if you get desperate Hung, but there is reproductions out there now and they are not "too expensive".
  3. Just buy a 911, it's a licence to hit into people apparently. @zr240 had his race car destroyed by an idiot in a 944. Seems to be a common theme. Perhaps more money than sense?

  5. Youtube is his day job...
  6. I stopped watching long ago. Can't bear to view it. Lol..
  7. Early style choke knobs and throttle knobs are rounded, later ones are "square" headed. Early style. Late at the bottom.
  8. Undertray is often missing, but early ones were solid. Later ones had holes in the rear (circular) cut outs. Here is an earlier style solid version.
  9. I have HS30 01415 so only 14 cars away from you. The warranty card shows a delivery date of 3rd November 1971. It was potentially built up to 3 months prior to that though. I will need to double-check the compliance plate, but I believe it's October 1971 stamped. So likely the car was built in September or perhaps August 1971. We can't know for sure, since HS30's didn't have a door jamb plate like North American HLS30's did.
  10. Early L24 cranks had harmonic issues. However I believe only HS30 00004 was likely to have been impacted by this, as I believe (and I'll need to dig out the information) that it was 2 engine numbers into the change or before the change to the crankshaft counterweight design etc..
  11. Yep and there is 2 versions of "D" caps. The early and late. Early has less fingers on the rear and the valve hole is aligned with the spokes. Early style Later style.
  12. Rocking Horse Manure...found some OEM covers (used) in good shape to replace my torn covers. They are not perfect, but that's just the way I wanted them!
  13. You mean my white 240z above with the black mirror? With faded paint on it? That's an OEM fender mirror with the stalk cut short and fitted on the door. I would probably not cut a genuine fender mirror now. Given their price for genuine OEM these days, both new and used, but good news is you can get 510 mirrors with a shorter stalk on them but same head and chop away at those with less guilt. Might even find a used 1 at a good price without the mounting springs in the base etc.. I often see them cheap like that. However since they are Chromed you'll want to strip that off anyway and repaint it black.

  15. Early Jeco clocks have all metal gears. Later ones had plastic gears. Which seem more relisble based on my limited experience.
  16. My 71 has those, I like them. Better than fishing for seat belts.
  17. I'm a big fan of raydyot mirrors on these cars. Very Z432-R or works rally car. Other than that, I like the black fender mirrors, the OEM RH side mirror and the Falcon mirrors pictured above (very period correct mod). My 71 240z has had a fender mirror modified to fit on the door. Kind of like it, just needs a repaint.
  18. Thanks Curtis, that plastic guard is the 1 I'm referring to. Yes that's the parts manual, I have a hard copy (sometimes easier to use) and PDF copy which is shared in that thread.
  19. For starters I would refrain from using "series 1" nomenclature since that's a very US centric view of things and there is no such mention of series 1, 2, 3 in factory literature. Instead it was an evolution process where certain changes were made during certain months and often indicated by VIN # and changed / jumps in number sequence. Perhaps the best place to see where all these changes occurred are with service bulletins and the HS30 parts manual which details date/month changes. However that thread is locked down to donating members at this stage. Even so the parts manual doesn't cover everything, for example we have seen that early AU market cars had different fender mirrors (unique to our market) - which don't have their part no's listed in the manual (only the bullet style ones appear). I also think things like the screws in the door trim are omitted. Here is another Easter Egg, early 240z seats had a plastic guard on them that is often missing deteriorated by now. Will see if I can dig up a photo.
  20. Is this the ultimate 240z?
  21. When we talk about "early girl" differences, where is the cut off point? Cars made in 1969 are different again in many ways... Grey heater panel, sold "Z" in 240z 1/4 badges (not white), difference in bonnet frame, lots of other subtle cues too.. The kind of stuff that Kats on Classizcars.com has pointed out many times.
  22. How many S30Z's showed up?
  23. Did you see this car? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/kewdale/cars-vans-utes/1974-datsun-260z-coupe/1191518970
  24. Very early AU market cars had the 2400 OHC valve cover. Photos of HS30 00084 https://photos.app.goo.gl/TyBD2yqJQHZGJGbN6 Hand throttle fitted to 70/71 models. 71A gearbox (rifle bolt action with Porsche style borg warner synchro mesh). Nikki fuel pump. Early SU's have 3 screw domes not 4 (you've got it backwards) 20 mph speedo (doesn't start at 0) Early gauge type face and delimiters are different to later gauges (type face is larger) and more delimiters (I prefer the earlier style myself). Some early Hitachi TM-1081ZB(S) radio's have a red light (haven't confirmed if this is TM-1081ZBA(S)) Apparently the vinyl pattern is different on early cars (diamond style). Early Antenna's have the arrow tip (acorn tip) - not sure when they changed to a square tip. Early master cylinders are different, along with the reservoir caps! No storage bins (different tool compartment behind rear seats). Different colour options on early cars, some colours got phased out (Safari Gold) / 907 Green / 903 Blue / 905 Red etc..
