Hi guys after months of researching asking vicroads and even having a quick chat to Duncan (president of NDSOC) i am still lost to how i apply for club rego. All the research i've done seems to lead me to no specific answer.

I have heard that Skylines Australia do club rego and i just happened to be a paid member of SAU and after talking to Kaz180 who is secretary? She said they don't.

Had a quick chat to Ducan when he was at my place to collect a part, but as it was a rushed conversation i was told to look at ndsoc webpage..which didnt really give me anymore than i already

And before anyone questions me, yes i will he participating in events, meetings etc and no not just in it for cheap rego.

Now can anyone please help me? What clubs are you with? How do i apply? And can i register my 77 celica when its done aswell, or are there restrictions?.

Thanks Tai

Im with the NDSOC and on club rego...

Best thing is to chat with Alan (260Coupe) and he will give you all the instructions you need. If you car can get an RWC easily, do it; that will help.

Ok Thanks Dimitri i will send him a Pm.

Also is it true you need to be a paid member for a year before your eligible for club rego? Im looking to register my car around Christmas break time..or after everyone gets back from holidays.

I've been with NDSOC for years. No probs.

As long as you're interested in being in the club and not just using the club, you'll be fine. And that sounds like what you want anyway. So perfect.

Duncan, President????

Me thinks not. DJ is el prezidenta

Pull ya head in Benny.

Your case was a the beginning of the new rules and the club was scrambling to set some ground rules. Due to a massive influx of interest in joining the club. I'm sur had you hav come to a meeting with me, it wold have been sorted out.

365 divided by rego = you really should just get full rego and enjoy your Zed or go buy an early Toyota . . . . . now those guys are cheap!

I got 2 cars already registered. So will be way too much for me to get rego for the Z and my Celica. I don't plan on driving them as daily's anyway plus im also factoring in insurance which is also supposedly cheaper on club rego. Plus i want to be involved in meets/Cruises etc..which dont happen much here.

And Simon. I have too just heard from a few guys with a 1600 and old skyline getting knocked back from NDSOC recently too.. so Benny has got a point. But i'll enquire and see what happens.

Thanks guys.

Hey Tai,

I'm a member of CSA (Classic Skylines Australia) and have my car on their club permit scheme because I was a member of the club already. Given NDSOC and CSA share the same enthusiast base (classic Datsuns), it is natural that there will be some overlap with the type of cars in each club. I have been meaning to come down to a NDSOC meeting and have a look around because they are so closely related, as a matter of fact quite a few members are both NDSOC and CSA members, including CSA's President and Club Secretary.

I can supply you with any information you might want/need about the club permit scheme and the requirements stipulated by CSA once you have them, but in the end it's your choice.

It's your choice as to which club you put your plates on, but it's only natural that clubs will err on the side of caution when someone pops out of nowhere out of the blue asking for a club permit straight away. I'm not saying that you will have to wait 1 year (for either club) but some "due process" might be needed.

P.S: Here is a link of all Vicroads approved clubs which offer club permits

Guys

Just to set the record straight for the ill informed and those who are quick to pass judgement on the NDSOC (and once again not current NDSOC members).

There have been a couple of 1600's knocked back from the CPS as they were considered too modified and the owners did not have engineering certs covering the engine retrofits (SR20 turbos) etc, nor were they prepared to get the documentation required. The Skyline owner (if it is the one I am thinking of) was asked to get a RWC as his vehicle was considered to be in too poorer state of repair for our scrutineer to issue a letter of safety.

As far as Benny's case is concerned, yes that was during a transition period where the NDSOC committee was considering a 1 year wait period due to the influx of permit plate applications (mostly looking for cheap rego)...........without starting a $hite fight ..........

I think Benny was a classic example of someone wanting to join the NDSOC just to get a permit plate and had little intention of attending events and supporting the club, this is clearly evidenced by the fact that he did not join at all nor did nor did he have the courtesy of ringing me to discuss his application  (and from memory had the car up for sale two months later)..............his comments now are juvenile and purely sour grapes .

New members looking to join the NDSOC to obtain a CPP are most welcome as long as they sign off the T&C's

The NDSOC now has a minimum attendance policy for its CPS scheme which is working very well for the 50+ members that have club permit plates and all are very happy with our approach.

PM me if you need any info and the NDSOC Terms and Conditions for Club permit Plates

regards

Well said Al.

Just stating my experience with NDSOC. From the get go they were not interested.... their loss.

So, did you go to any meetings or join?

You've had little to no Experience with the club. Yet feel entitled to can them?

I'll message you.

Tai, best advice is to contact Al and go to a meeting.

Wow geez sorry guys didnt mean to turn this into a feud.

Thank you for all your advice and assistance.

-Lurch thank you, i will be in contact with you soon with some questions.

- Agno. I see where my mistake was, i went enquiring through SAU not CSA and thanks for the links etc i'll have a read over them tonight. Can you send me the info on CSA, do you need my email address? Would love to see what options i have.

-260Coupe. Sorry wasn't meant to stir the boat. I don't know the 1600 & skyline owner personally it was just through my quest to get info about ndsoc a few months ago and those 2 guys emailed me telling me to not bother. Alot of the '1 year speculation' i read was from the couple of threads on this forum..maybe lurch or Gav can edit or delete it as it doesnt provide any accurate or informative info which may confuse ithers in the future. Thanks Alan for the help ill be in touch soon with some questions.

Hi Retro I have just completed putting my car on club plates, it is painless and easy the requirements are as the others have stated, join any club that is registered with Vic roads to issue paperwork for rego. My local car club uses a local Peddars suspension shop to scrutineer the car standard 28 point safety check, once completed the club nominated person signs off on it, you then take the form to Vic roads you don't need the car, they take $129.00 from you and either hand you the plates and log book, or in my case they were posted

Allan,

you are assuming a lot here, you dont know me nor know how i conduct myself.

From the get go at that time it was a no, so why would i waste my time trying to convince you otherwise?? As far as the sale of my car goes it was never anticipated, i sold it to support my family.

All I was doing above was sharing my experience, maybe think about the way you treat people wanting to join and these problems wont arrise.

Never once in my above posts did I name and shame anyone or air dirty laundry. The way you are justifying yourself is Juvenile.

This is all ancient history, im not trying to start a sh!t fight but I have the right to share my thoughts be it public or private,

Ben

we have 3 clubs here in town, you dont have to join ndsoc, have a look in your local area for a "classic" car club, drag club even, and get involved we have a great little group here I am in club (2) 50 members also in club (1) 230 members but driftin away to many people.. unfortunately you would not be able to join, unless you meet the requirements of membership..you must attend 3 meetings 3 events and the AGM to have your membership renewed...if not then your out quite simple really.

Been perusing all this.

Up here in Hicksville, it is a lot simpler, and there are many that initially comply, then dont bother renewing with a club, all a bit loose and free, and no log book or number of days.

We just hope the State Gumbymint up here doesnt get to thinking

Eniways, or scheme is around $200 a year, little bit more.

Keep up the good work!
