if it's not too heavy...

Yeah, sure that will happen......

I'll talk to Nissan, see if we can get 20 off'em cheap , for a one make race series!

Oh, wait already did that with the Pulsars back in the '80's!

Their small vehicle base patform is not set up for FWD , bugga!

A RWD twincam wit turbo would be most enjoyable, oh wait, it was a Sylvia S13

Yeah mini-z is a weird choice of name since it doesnt even look like it. You would have to have a guess that they are going to call it a Silvia in Japan.

Also with AWD maybe it will have an electric ATESSA system? That could be fun?

Id say 'mini z' is more of a nickname due to the common knowledge that the majority of nissan 'sports' cars are z cars.

(I didnt include the GTR skyline in that because its not a sports car, its a supercar killer)

Either way, its an interesting concept, i wont pass judgement until tech specs and at least some sort of basic drive review has been done.

RWD, 4 seater, 'hatch' back, most importantly an SR20VET, and a price low enough to make it very comparable to the 86, it would sell like hotcakes.

I'd like to see a real picture and some solid specs before passing final judgement. First impressions on the looks of teh rendering alone, I don't care much for it.

Just read this...

"Nissan’s engine choice could also diverge significantly from the Toyota-Subaru philosophy of a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre unit in favour of a 142kW turbocharged 1.6-litre engine that would produce a very different driving experience.

However, further engine development could be possible – earlier this year Nissan showed off the Juke R, a version of the tiny SUV powered by the 407kW, 3.8-litre V6 engine from the company’s GT-R model.

In a closed street race around Dubai run by Nissan, the Juke R defeated a Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 458 Italia and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

The sports car project has reportedly received all approvals and progressed to the development stage, potentially heading for a global debut in late 2013."

Thing is the Toysubi already has a heap of aftermarket turbo kit attention so it boils down to 1.6 -v- 2 liters. The Nissan may turn out OK but it is still a wrong wheel driver, lurking in a proper Z car forum :)

So let's be honnest we can take from this that this Silvia will be based on teh Juke platform for sure. The modular platform thing is big in nissan production at the moment (and lots of car companies) and it's not going to have a GTR engine in it. The easiest thing to do would be look at what Renault turbo engines are out there. Interestingly enough the newish Mégane Renaultsport runs an I4 2.0L turbo! FF layout which means it can support 4WD layout pretty easily too.

So there you go, in my opinion it's going to be a Juke chassis with a Mégane Renaultsport 2.0L turbo engine. According to Evo magazine from a couple of months back the Mégane Renaultsport has it all over the BR-Z/FT86 as it is.

It's going to have nothing to do with the G37/Z34 platform in my opinion and will not be marketed as a Z either. It will be a Silvia / 200SX for shizzel ma nizzle.

Japanese sports car makers have lost so much ground to euro hot hatches in the under $50K price bracket in the last 10yrs it's amazing.
