Hi guys,

 

I'm looking for some door mirror options and styles... so show me your mirrors.

Hmm I have bullet mirrors and was going to mount them, but due to my  previous owner mounting horrid 200b mirrors half way down the door. I wasn't sure if I should do it yet due to the fact that there is minor surface rust left under the old mirrors and the new ones won't cover it.

 

Some others have said bullet mirrors are useless for visibility but I tested them and they seemed ok (at least on drivers side).

 

Other than that I think Fender or original 240z mirrors are best.

 

I was also looking at XY  Falcon tear drop mirrors (if you don't want fender mounted. I think those are all the best options personally.

 

Modern mirrors look hideous.

I have Falcon mirrors, XA/XB/XC type, so the '70's period which is right timeframe. Nice shape, quite streamlined. Fitted well, only slight reshaping at the base req'd. They seem to give reasonable rear vision. See picture of my 260 adjacent. I've seen other Zeds with the same type used.

(The same style but with remote adjuster - deluxe? - was also available for driver's side, possibly passenger's side also; but I didn't want to put a hole(s) in my door trim so just used the basic version).

I have I believe an original RHD SS fender mirror for the first of the 240Z's.

Doesn't come with mounting instructions.

I remember paying gold for this mirror but never used it. Lynton

I went for old Hella 4004 mirrors on my car.

They're similar to bullets but blend in more smoothly.

And they're also period correct 1970's era...but can be hard to find.

 

I also like the Talbot 333 mirrors, often seen on Porsche 356's and Karmann ghia's.

 

Vitaloni Californian's could look good, just a pity they don't come in chrome.

I like the Talbot 333 mirrors but would have to sell a kidney or start walking the streets.

Hmmm...I have the chrome fender mirrors on my 240Z the same as the one's Lynton has in his images. They are old school and only really suited for the early zeds (1970 models).

If I was putting on mirrors now and had a choice then I would probably also get a set of chrome bullet mirrors mounted on the fender. The black finish also looks good on the right car. Though you should get the one's with the extended support because they a period correct and were the type used on the Japanese Fairlady Zeds. The shorter one's in your images are not really designed for Z car and for me look a little out of proportion - only my opinion.
