doudous Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Owning a Hakosuka has been on my Bucket List for a long time.... so when a friend rang me from a Kobe auction describing a mint 1972 GT-R clone with a hot stroker L28 I could not resist... She's now heading to Sydney - I hope it turns out to be as good as it looks in the video - fingers crossed! Cheers Phil Quote
Riceburner Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Wow, very cool! You must be so excited, what sort of time frame until you get delivery? Has to be one of the all time great cars Quote
doudous Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 Very excited - 4 weeks..... something to look forward to... Quote
Riceburner Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Awesome, looks to be in really good condition! Definately in my dream car garage alongside a 2000gt. What are you plans for it? Quote
doudous Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 The plan is to keep it for club drives, track days and just drive it to work a few days a week... I bought it as a replacement for a special Zed I just sold. I am hoping it's as quick as the old Zed which was about 180HP at the treads. I have heard this is a lighter car.... I would love to have a Nostalgic Japanese track day @ Wakefield Park... a friend is planning to book the track in May - he usually brings his Euro/Italian car mates with some very quick old Fiats, Ferraris, Lancias etc - they are a bit Euro-snobby so it's alot of fun to rub their noses in a clean pair of old Japanese heals! Any takers? Quote
handsandwhich Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Love it! So is it going to be "for sale"? Quote
Riceburner Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I'll be looking foward to the build thread starting when it arrives Quote
sco_aus Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 a) AWESOME! Man thats nice. b) Depending on pricing for the track day, I would be keen... Quote
dat2kman Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Brilliant, and rare here! It's nice to know that we can still remove such cars from their homeland! When very nice late 1960's Datsun Sports 2000's are being bought back by the Japanese enthusiasts, at up to equivalent of $40,000,AUD and even rarer original ( not replica) race cars with history fetch upwards of $65,000, USD,,,,just gotta ask, what has it cost to land it here?? Thete is a member on here, in Brisbane, with similar ! Quote
doudous Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 She's a keeper - not for sale - it will be on my website for marketing and tax reasons only. These cars are very tightly held in Japan so it makes no real business sense - I bought it because I love these old Dattos - I reckon they made some of the best cars in the world in this era. My dad was a Datsun dealer for a very short time in the 60's and I was karted home from hospital in the back of a 240Z in a wicker basket in 1971....! My 1st car was a 240Z. My dad owned a Toyota 2000GT which he sold in 1977 for $12000 (Deposit on a house!)... so I like these old cars. Quote
chris240 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Ooohhhh i like that. So how where those fumes in the back of the hatch, did they at least use the luggage straps !! Quote
doudous Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 What luggage straps? What baby capsule? What child restraint? The story goes that dad had to stop suddenly on the way home and I slid all the way from the basket in the back through to the passenger footwell in the front and landed on my head! I've never been quite right ever since... Somewhere I have a photo of dad crouching in front of his orange zed with me in the wicker basket in the driveway. Dad is kitted up in full 70's regalia including shorts with long white socks and moustache! Quote
waxhead Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Beautiful car. I would love to see this in the flesh. Quote
Agno Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 When is this car expected to land in aus? The Skyline Nationals are being held in Golburn in early September and this car would make a great addition to the line up! Quote
doudous Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 It's arriving in 4 weeks. How do I enter the Skyline Nationals? Quote
luvemfast Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Oh very nice. Just remember. No one likes a bragger Quote
d3c0y Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 That's super cool, i really want to know what these things drive like compared to a zed. From what i have read they weigh more like 1100kg so a bit heavier than a 240Z. I saw your old zed at the first JDM ST meet for the year and met Alex who bought it. It's definitely a very cool zed! Quote
doudous Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 Alex is a very cool guy.... The Zed has gone to good home.... definitely the best car I have ever owned. I hope the Hakosuka is as good as the Zed. How much does a 240/260 weigh? - I thought it was about 1100kg also.... Quote
d3c0y Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 It's about 1068kg for a 240Z and the series 1s are a little lighter again. Not heaps of difference and when you start adding headers, triple carbs, R200 diffs etc it weighs them down even more. 260Zs are a bit more, but vary a bit depending spec and series. That hako has a nice looking exhaust system on it. Is it running stock calipers on the front? I was trying to tell from the video was a bit hard, nice coilovers too. Quote
BOZ-13b Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Great car! Looks the goods in red. What kind of money landed in aus? Quote
Agno Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 http://www.skylinenationals.com.au/ << Downloads section for entry forms If you want to do the track day as well at Wakefield (you never know!) the sup regs are to be released closer to the date. I'm not 100% sure but if I remember correctly last Nationals you could enter the show and shine on the day. If you have any questions send me a PM as my club (CSA) are the organisers of the event and I can get you in contact with someone with more reliable info if required. Quote
doudous Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Please PM me regarding landed costs etc - I dont want to be misconstrued as to why I like this forum.... it's to chat about lovely old Japanese machines not to sell them here... I will sign up for the Skyline bash - sounds like a fun few days Cheers Phil Quote
doudous Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Christmas is early - she arrived this morning: Quote
