aidannn Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Hi guys my names Aidan and im from sydney. been on this forum for a while so i thought i'd finally make a car journal so here goes. my previous car was an integra dc5r. great little 4 banger. took it to marulan and wakefield to give it a fang. great fun to drive. i do miss that sweet angry swarm of bee lawnmower sound. i especially miss the stock recaros as you z owners will know the stock seats give you back pain on longish drives. anyway after seeing pictures of these 2 special zeds i knew that was the car i had to have. i dreamed night and day of having a zed but would talk myself out of it by saying theyre too old, parts would be difficult and $$ to source. i toyed with the idea of other cars such as 180sx, s13/14/15 but i thought.. well convinced by other that it would more than likely be a downgrade from the dc5r. which from looking back i think it would have been. thought about a 32gtr but decided not to as im young, not much exp with turbo cars and mite end up doing something stupid. but in reality i subconsciously wanted the zed always and yeh. so boom. 1973 240z i purchased this on a fellow forum member. car was in pretty good nick. engine was running nice. usual rust. numbers were not matching unfortunately. notable mods include: king springs 280zx gearbox 15" performance superlite rims. car has recently been put in for a respray, rust/bog removed and fender flares fitted. this is how the car was before the respray ive been told i will be getting the car back hopefully in the next few days. the Hayashi Streets will be going on the rear. 15x9.5 -19 currently 195/55/15 the SSR Professor SP1Rs will be going on the front (for now). 15x8.5 +2 currently 225/45or50/15 i have these on there way from jdm land. SSR Formula Mesh 15x9.5 -33 Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 21, 2011 Moderators Posted February 21, 2011 I love the choice of wheels..specialy the dish! It's going to look great when your done.. keep us posted! Quote
aidannn Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 i got the car back over the weekend. heres a couple pics. car will be going back to the panelbeater in a couple weeks to fix a couple bits n pieces. most notably the front zg flares. i bought them 2nd hand and the previous owner took abit too much off them so they look funny. so if any has a PAIR of zg flares they dont want id gladly take them off your hands. bryan3976 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 looking good man u gonna cut some more coils out there is so much gap ur front meshies on yet ? Quote
RB30X Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Looks great. Some coil overs would drop it down nicely Quote
aidannn Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 haha yeh id love to get some coils for it. in time. havent got the meshies yet. theyre still on the boat from japan. didnt take pics of the front because the ssrs look too small and sunken =P would anyone happen to have a rough idea of the costs of installing an l28et be? im seriously contemplating the one that datpilot has for sale. Agno Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Awesome looking rig mate. The Hayashis really suit it well. Quote
. Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Looks great mate. I am sure you will have pleanty of years of enjoyment. It seems like it didn't take you long to change your mind regarding the turbo. So do you get any rubbing with those back wheels? Quote
RB30X Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I'm guessing you didn't cut your guards to fit the flares but they still look really good with those rims. Wheel spacers? Quote
aidannn Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 thanks for the kind words ive still got no idea what to do with engine mods. all i know it i want some more power but there is so many routes to take with these cars. the guards are not cut, but ill have to cut the rears as the wheels scrub on small bumps and dips. no spacers on there. fufu Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 my brother from JDMST! Delicious looking Zed. Keep at it. Quote
NZeder Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Great looking car - well you have done it now - you have a zed - there is no going back now. If you ever sell your zed - you will be back it is like the old Eagles song "Hotel California" "You can checkout anytime but you can never leave" Not sure if it is the angle of the pic or what, but the front flares look larger than the rear - almost like the fronts are on the rear and rears are on the front. I could be wrong. But here is a few pics online of other ZG Overfenders installed on S30's Quote
aidannn Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 thanks fu! came home last night to a big mysterious package from japan. what was inside? dont see many of these around Quote
aidannn Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 haha yeh its like an addiction. damn zeds always make us relapse! its inevitable! yeh they wider ones are on the front. i bought them 2nd hand and the previous owner cut too much off the rear ones (i didnt think much of it at the time). minor oversight by the panel beater having them the wrong way around. but yeh which is why i bought another set of flares from japan to replace them. what do you guys think of the new front lip? im thinking spraying it black. or should i go same colour as the car? Quote
MaygZ Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I think it look awesome white like the car. It doesn't look like an add on, but part of a well presented car. Good work MaygZ Quote
RB30X Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I think the pics of the white zed are modeling the lip he got from Japan. I think you should paint it orange like your car but stay with the satin black for the new flares. Very jap spec your car is. You need some zg mirrors now. Quote

I'm so easily confused I agree with RB for the reasons above. Quote

aidannn Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 small update. after a month and a half of being fucked around by a seller, it looks as though my new motor will (*hopefully) be arriving today. this experience has turned me off buying any large/expensive items interstate ever again. will update the thread with some pictures when/if it arrives. Quote
aidannn Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 as suspected after waiting at home all day for the guy to show up i get a message saying the trailer is fd and so is the engine. did not get a reply after that. apparently he will be returning my money. very disappointed to say the least. now dno what to do engine wise as the l28et was the only engine i wanted for the z. the whole experience has turned me off the car. benny Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 that sucks man!! hope he does the right thing by you!! Why not just put a turbo on your current motor?? You only real requirement is a loom(for efi) and the turbo manifold, the rest you can fab or use aftermarket stuff!! Quote
