Need some help on choosing a colour on my 240z, I want to keep it factory for that year and I'm down to two choices, 920 safari gold or 918 range, my z will have a set of 16x8 dark coloured watanabes on them as well which will suit these the choices beautilfully.

What do you think?

I don't think there's enough Safari Gold zeds running around. They do look good with gunmetal/dark wheels...eg 432's.

Mossy ..

the hornet was 918, and to be honest it takes a lot to like it. I actually think that safari gold is more unique and to me has more of that 'period race' look to it.

Just my opinion for what its worth.

Have a look at the edward Lee zed for inspiration on 918 .. it is actually a very nice car.

this problem actually took me the better part of a year to get right.

good luck.

Im with you Dimitri, very rare to see one these days as everyone who had one in the 70's and 80's painted them something else. For what its worth it also keeps the car original as well.

I've got soo many pics of the 920 and 918 and the colour never seems consitent from car to car, it could be the lighting of the pic or just faded paintwork. The safari gold is definetely unique and screams 70's to me but I've seen quite a few pics and it looks terrible, then I've seen others that look fantastic, the office tomitaku car is one that I love. The edward lee orange one looks dark in the photos, I'm not sure if I'm diggin that one.

Thats your safari isn't it scoota? I've seen the other pics of that car in your thread about Dalee's orange rebuild and those pics look different in colour,  I'm loving the black wheels though.

That is actually dale's Trophy winning Safari Gold 240Z which i do work on. The colour in real life with the whells you talk about would be a Cut above. At the meetings you see a lot of red mostly. Paint is not as important as the panel it sits on. You see a car, any car with a super straight line and any color will look excellent on it. People say to me why Green and i tell them one reason "I love it when the little one's yell out in the middle of the street, Mummy look at the Green car" Happens every other week :D

I was probably leaning towards the orange but after seeing dales z and a couple more safari pics I'm probably 50/50, at least I don't have to make a descion tomorrow ;)
