acf321 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Just noted last night that under the 'UK Market' Section of the Feb 2011 Octane Magazine there is half a page on the growing collectability of 240Z's. The article suggests that "of the 2000 imported cars into the UK, most are rotten (as you would expect) and the balance have been destroyed by racers". They then go on to say that the 240Z is a brilliant drive, and in many instances are worth more than "cooking early 911's". Their advise is to "get a 240Z while you can, as they are highly desirable drivers and investments". Now I don't have my copy in front of me, but this really was a shot in the arm and a great advertisement for the marque. Remember that Octane is sold Globally, and typically identifies trends in cars that are collectable, or likely to be collectable. I recently saw two 'restored' 240Z's advertised in the mag for 25,000 pounds and more. Moreover, I am aware of one Australian restored (but fairly heavily modified - paint, tranny, wheels, interior etc) whose owner was offered $58,000 for. Maybe, just maybe we're onto something here! Spread the word !!! (again!) cheers Quote
Sirpent Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Adam It's only a matter of time be it 240 or 260, and thats great news. So is the moral of the storyy keep them original at all costs? It's something I keep thinking about everytime I start dreaming up mods on my build. Cheers John Quote
mossy Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I'm modding my early 240z but nothing that cant be easily reversed, I'll save the zg flares and V8 for the track car. I've always thought though that it doesn't really matter what your car value gets to if your going to keep it, but then again sometimes priorities change and it would be good to know your car has tripled in value. It is good to see them become more desirable though, even when the z looked terrible when I first got it I was getting the thumbs up form people all the time Quote
peter mc Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 i love my z i don't care what it worth i will never sell mine . But it good that they are being looked at for the great car that they are Quote

NZeder Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 My plan was to keep my last 240z very stockish (well apart from engine/carb mods) and the 260z with the RB NA setup is the hot rod type zed. I sold the 240z to fund the garage to put the 260z in.....but I keep an eye out for another 240z all the time.....just need $$ again lol. Quote
KatoKid Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Ditto for me...nothing Ive done or plan to do cant be easily undone. Original engine etc stays under the work bench if needed one day! Quote
Brabham Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Trick is to make all your mods bolt on and easily reversible and keep your original engine etc if you have it. That is how I will do my next zed, everthing can be unbolted and put back to stock if preferred. Quote

And like Dave, i also have the original matching # motor sitting where it has been for the last 16 years in the garage at home. Im just glad I also have all the original sales docs even the 75 issue number plates which makes the package even more historically original. Quote
dat2kman Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 new hotness is to sell something back to the Japanese, crazy figures! Like 5 million yen paid for a restored( nicely) sr311 Datsun Sports 2000 all those YENS you could fill a bathtub and go fap fap fap Zeds seem to get good prices too. Nissan factory paid couple million yen to "get" back a rare model Prince Skyline a year or so back I was offered a 2010 competiton only r35gtr skyli for just 12 million yen, this is a baragin I was told, when i had a look at the car and the spares package, I was like, "Dear wife, I am buying you a new toy" Quote
