engine question

I was just looking through some paperwork of the engine work done just before I bought my Zed and it says 'Bore 040' what does that actually mean? also new conrods, pistons, bearings, and valves. Also it states in the parts section of the invoice an 'engine overhaul kit inc Timing chain'  what would normally be in that kit?

.040 over bore means the cylinders have been bored out by 40 thousandths of an inch..which I think is about 1mm? Increases capacity a tad which is good! With the timing chain kit, usually guides and chain are replaced.

Correct, it is 1mm and gives you an extra 3 cubic inches. Total overhaul kit may include the gasket set too.

This would also increase the compresion ratio slightly too.
