The guy who restored my 240z has just picked up a completely original 240z. Here is what he has to say about it. I think he is wanting about $15K and is based at Gold Coast.

It is original, 73000 miles, with books, full service history, one owner, automatic, I have recently purchased this car from a family who's grandmother had passed away.

The car has been garaged it's whole life and is one of the better examples I have seen in recent times and is complete and has never been in any accidents as far as the family is lead to believe or that I can find present of any damage.

The car starts and runs perfectly and has recently had reco'd radiator, brake booster, new battery and full service and has only just been de-registered.

The only problems I have managed to find with the whole car is broken passenger side front lower indicator lense, one of the bump rubbers on the front drivers side of bar is broken and missing, and one of the plastic Datsun vent emblems is broken on the drivers side, and there is also surface rust and only surface rust in both door jams due to dirt and water build up in rubbers and a few bubbles in the drivers door, all of this is very easily rectified.

Considering the age of this car and the classic rarity of finding a complete unmolested car such as this i thought it right to offer it to mainly datsun enthusiastz and collectors first.

If anyone has any questions or queries please don't hesitate to call and talk to me on 0416337629.

There will be more and indepth photos available to those who are truely interested. I do not have a price on it as of yet however I do know what I am asking and I really dont think it is much for this classic complete old girl....

Yours faithfully, Adam

nice example but dam 15K i bet the lady is kicking herself, well in a metaphorical sought of way.

Who sets the prices for the dados, i mean are we becoming our own worst enemies for setting high pricing?

Supply and demand.........

Another example is old Valiant Chargers, nine years ago I was told I was crazy paying $1,000 for a chugger complete but needing some work. Now days you pay $5K plus for a rusty shell with half the bits missing.

With Z's being rarer to begin with, and being sought after the prices will only go one way, and it's not the way I want them to go either as I won't be able to buy another road Z for a long time unless I get rid of another toy or two.

OK OK lets clear up some confusion this is a one owner car and the BEST example of an ORIGINAL unstuffed with car. The car is in pristine condition for its age and considering some of my customers have paid alot more for cars that needed alot of work to get to this standard. I am asking over $13k at the moment however once I have rectified all of the small problems it has ie: missing clock, worn bushes and shocks, worn drivers seat and the likes as you would expect over a 30 year period. I will be asking over the $17k mark and knowing the price of parts and I don't use anything bar original nissan or better on g spec cars it adds up quite quickly so the price is very reasonable for the condition of the car. The only rust I can find is in the drivers door 2 bubbles and surface rust in the door ways at the beginning of the datsun aluminum strips. Either way you look at its worth every dollar and any z collector or datsun nut will kick themselves for not getting it understanding the fact that they are only going up in value and GOOD UNTOUCHED ones are hard to find... If some one wants I could always put an rb in it or a L28 with five speed or hay lets jam a 5lt in it with zg flares 2pack spray job etc etc, Well i could but I dont want to wreck another classic its like getting an og Torana or Ho and sticking a nine inch in it and a blower out the bonnet great in the 80's not now people so only really interested people contact me and there will be more photo's put up soon..

I didn't mean to be rude or anything, it just seams that with clasis cars it's not just dados, we seam to set the price. don't get me wrong 13K for that car, if i had teh money it would be sold. Good luck it sure is a nice clean car

To be honest I'm going with dr datto. If its as good as it looks in the pictures and all the credentials are there then it is a bloody steal at that price. Especially when compared to some of the s30 you see going up around there that when you go look at them are constructed more of bondo than metal.

I agree - I think these are grossly undervalued and to find an original one that has not been messed with, at a reasonable price - even cheap, should be snapped up immediately. If I didn't have 12 cars already, and no spare cash, it would be gone !

I have an original '74 260z 2 + 2 auto - probably the least popular or collectible of the lot - with less than 100,000 km on it, and would not sell it for less than $8,000, (not that it's for sale) so to me, the price is more than realistic.

SOLD TO VICTORIA MIDDAY YESTERDAY (12hrs on Ebay)

Also yes there are alot of time wasters on ebay as we deal with our fair share of them, but alot of people are still not computer fans and do not get on forums but need ebay to find the rarer parts and cars...we thought it right to advertise it by way of email and forums to Z enthusiasts we knew of first but decided after a couple of weeks if it was not sold that it would be advertised on ebay. Well done! Another nice 240Z on the way back down over the border(s). Unfortunately not all forum members are cashed up billionaires that can snap up cars and have a garage and team of mechanics like Jay Leno. I'm sure everyone here would've killed to have that zed (me included) but just don't have the funds. I hope you got an excellent price for it; keep them values high! I'm hoping that mentality of Datsun = Cheap way of thinking goes the way of the Dodo...
