1971 240z - matching numbers - almost like new - HS30-00596
Kodie replied to Kodie's topic in Cars For Sale
You're spot on Gav, most of the car has been apart at some point. The previous owner, Myron, was quite obsessive in his upkeep of the car. -
-
Hodgo, I'd love his number, could you flick it to me on a pm. Thanks.

So I have pulled apart a spare early box that I got with my zed as the box in it is crunching quite badly. My intention was to rebuild this one and swap it in but that's not going to happen now as the... long story. Anyways, I have everything apart and I have come to a bit of an impass with the synchros. I've dealt with brass ring based synchros before but I am not entirely sure how to check these warner type synchros. I have a couple of manuals and they all have a rather vague description/picture of how to check for wear and I think I have it but I wanted to check with you guys first. The link below has pictures of the coupler pressed on to the baulk ring, as far as I can tell I should be measuring the distance between the edge of the baulk ring and where the coupler pushed up onto it? I figure its like brass cones where if the coupler pushes up to far then it's worn. (Please note: in the photo the feeler gauge isn't against the coupler - I know, I was in a rush - ) http://imgur.com/a/yYMxs#0

Thanks Gav. I knew they wouldn't be cheap. I'll keep an eye on yahoo.

I'm looking for a set of fender mirrors ala early 240z.
-
Wow, this is amazing to watch! I'd love to have the money and balls to do that, although I doubt we could ever have something like that on the road over here.
-
Haha, funnily enough that statement (Money talks, bullsh!t walks) is exactly what I used I will post up some pictures and such when I get back to Tas.
-
Just to let you guys know I've placed a deposit on the car, I will be picking it up next wednesday.
-
I don't think it's sold? I spoke with Mick yesterday and I think he was casing out prospective buyers. Alot of people are throwing around numbers without seeing or even talking to Mick about it so he is wading through those who will put their money where their mouth is.

It's been garaged all it's life, had a rebuild on the power train and has just generally been well looked after - it's going to be worth more than $4000. Not to rain on your parade but I paid more than that for my old Z (which was in very mediocre condition) and that was in 2009. Then again we just don't know until the pictures come through.

I'd be interested to see, I am after a Z again. The itch must be scratched! PM sent regarding possible purchase. Call me on 0400541075.

Sold. -
I have been putting this off for sometime but unfortunately the time has come. Up for sale is my 1971 240z. I bought it 3 years ago with the intention of dumping both my time and money into it but unfortunately a change in work has seen it do nothing but sit there in my shed. Now with the progression of my career I have to move interstate so she has to go. The car has been disassembled down to a bare shell and is sitting on a rotisserie for a bare metal restoration. Almost everything has been catalogued by tagging and bagging to make the reassembly alittle easier. It has something which I think is pretty rare for its year, an AC unit which looks like its a factory piece. It needs the usual rust replacement parts such as floor pans, slam panel and sills. Also included is a brand new set of fenders mirrors and a full workshop manual to help putting her back together again. Obviously a trailer would be required to pick her up. (Hint, hint guys in vic! The boats cheap!) Heaps of pictures can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/escp4 As with any zed it requires some love and buying a zed in this way means you can see what your up for now rather than when you find it later! Price: 3k ono (Need it gone so make an offer, have to move soon!) Call or message: 0400541075 PS: No I won't part, has to go whole.

Yeah no offence taken its a valid question. There is also a couple of extremely rare australian sold nissans that are similar in looks only, the nissan infiniti and also the later nissan infiniti j30 model. These came with a vh45de and a vh41de respectively, which are both v8s.

Yeah no, fair call and ill explain why I think it is this way. If you look back through importation history even past the 15 year rule you will notice that the y32 cima was not allowed to be imported. Now take note of the Y32 in the statement because the y31s and y32s look similar but are totally different and in fact unlike most nissans only share 2 common suspension parts with the older model. 99% of the time people mistake this for the commonly available y31 Nissan cima which came with a vg30de or vg30dett and was import en-mass during the 15 year rule. My y32 bears a personal import plate as it was owned in china for 6 years before being bought over to Australia by the previous owner. To my knowledge after searching extensively for one of these in aus for over a year this is one of 2 y32 model cimas in AUS and also the only vh41de powered y32 cima in AUS. You can go on to http://aus-vip.com/ to see the other cima which is a vg30dett powered cima, look for the user name "Dominik". There is also a thread on there about my car where you will see the guys all discuss how it is there is one of these in the country. There is also a thread about Dominiks, if you look at Dominiks you will see that he had to own the car in japan for 3 years then had it imported by personal import like mine but had massive trouble with the law even getting the clearance to import it. Further evidence is my arguments with Shannon's, Just Car (both of these companies will insure it for the same price as a y31 cima even though they share very little) and even Carsales (who still don't believe me and wont add the details for it to the for sale list) that the model even exists. You can also look on carsales and the other car selling websites and you will not find another y32, even mine is listed as a y31 due to carsales not adding the details, you will how ever find shivere tonnes of y31s and possibly a couple of the newer y33s and F50s. In short I would almost be willing to hedge a bet that the cars you worked on are y31 cimas, not y32s.
