...i want one. sure i'll look like i'm having my mid life crisis early but at least i'll be doing it with a smile on my face.  ;D

the performance on these things is amazing for the price. you can pick one up for around $20k and it's sure to run rings around any porche on the track. power to weight is just crazy.

i'm going to send a tin around for collections for my seven fund. make sure you donate generously please.

I've drove one of this years ago...Had a twin cam toyota motor in it..

I'll throw in 2 old buttons i found to start the collection off..

A brother of a mate, has a 'SR' power clubby. He finished building it about a year ago. Its a very nice example. Been for a ride in and the defiantly perform well, But not really my cup of tea for on the street, i prefer a bit more metal around me. On the track though it would be awesome.

Get a 7 with inboard suspension on the front (info from the Fraser car company - 7 builders here in NZ)

Inboard Front Suspension

1. A major failing of the conventional placement of the spring/shock absorber is called falling rate suspension. As the wheel progresses through its bump travel the spring becomes increasingly horizontal and thereby becoming softer in the vertical direction (the one that matters). At absolutely horizontal of course the effective spring rate is 0.

By introducing a pushrod and rocker assembly, carefully engineered, the angle of the pushrod to rocker and rocker to shock can be maintained as a near right angle at ride height therefore introducing rising rate suspension. This is of course more desirable giving a more linear wheel deflection and better control. It has resulted in much lighter springs being required to do the same job.

2. There is an aerodynamic advantage in putting the coil/shock unit out of the air stream.

3. There is significantly less unsprung weight in replacing the coil/shock with a pushrod.

4. Ride height is easily adjusted with pushrod length.

Isn't that a pubic wig?

Why would you need to sell your car for that? I'm sure if you put up your adress, we could all donate some of our own pubes so you can make one

BWAHAHAHAHA - ahhhh that's GOLD Simon.

BTW a Pubic Wig is actually called a 'Merkin'. Don't ask me how I know that...  :-X

And I thought a birkin is a fanny type of leather hand bag :o - took a google to find the Birkin Car Ltd is a 7 clubcar manufacture - had me worried for a while.

heh, sounds kinky.

tbh i'm sure selling the 240 will be harder than i can imagine. i mean making the decision to sell anyway. i don't drive it often but each time i get in it

.

not sure how you guys know what a pube wig is called. that's just disturbing... and scary :/

is it wrong to want more than one seven?

8) 8) 8)

I have seen mutiple toyota engined ones, a S2000 engined one, a real (origional) lotus powered one, pictures of a 5.0L one and this beauty

mmmmmmmm, 2.5L of NA awesomeness.....

There is a reason they called them sevens....Gives you an excuse to have one for each day of the week.

I'd probably get one of these before a 7 - just for the hell of it.

Mate I love the SmartHAYABUSA....What a car, being looking to buy one for a while now.

There making Hayabusa kits to fit the Smart car in the USA...I'll keep dreaming. ;D

i'm also quite tempted to forget about the zed (not sure if thats possible) and get a lotus 7, i think a honda k24 powered one would be nice, or sr20, or even just s2k, 3sge, 4age...to many options. with the weight of them though i think n/a is a smarter idea.

it'd distrubing knowing both guys with nice v8 240z's are tempted to get a lotus 7...makes me think it will never go away! positives's for a zed are they have a roof, and comply to some safety standards, so can actually be used as a daily (although probably deserve better anyway)

a guy at work told me his mission is to convince me to never get a lotus 7, as he reakons they are for wankers, as whoever drives them clearly doesn't care what they look like, and you dont need that much performance on the road...

that first video makes me not want one though! as if you'd put a picnic basket on the back! my favorite video of one is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHgjFPhhzY8

i agree, too many engine options. most owners say to start with a 4age and work your way up 'when you get used to it'. they seem to pride themselves on having amazing power even with shitty stock engines thrashed by drifters. i think upgrading engines is a very expensive way to go about it. i would get as powerful an engine as my budget allows and keep my foot off the floor until i'm comfortable with it.

that guy at work is right. they do look like a wankers car but honestly, the amount of fun you will have in a seven far outweighs any self conscious image concerns i might have. i WILL look like a wanker on the road but that will be a right proper smile on my face and a smirk on everyone elses.

as for too much performance on the road... load of bs. you can never have enough. besides, i want this for a track car more than a road car. after getting back into karting i know i'm hooked on racing and i want to feel that open wheel sexiness on a large track. :D

that first video is aimed at poms mate ;) the one you posted made me wet myself a bit...
