  1. Ok, I'm going to check wether its an R200 buy measuring the bottom 2 rear cover bolt spacings apparently on a R180 it's 80mm and R200 it's 90mm. If there is any other way to please let me know e.g. buy the numbers cast into the bottom of the diff. I don't think it will be a R200 due to it's an auto but it just looks different to the 180 in my Z. Galderdi whats the difference between the series 1 and 2 brakes e.g. vented or not, different calipers. Just look at Lurchs 280zx brake conversion tutorial ignor the last question.   2. Hi, I am currently searching for information on this site and others, but thought i might be able to get a more direct answer from some one. I have a 240Z and have found a 280z 1982 auto. Would the diff, shafts and brakes be useful for a conversion. Q1. I am pretty sure these come with a R200, probably not LSD, but thought i could get a new after market LSD centre. Can any one confirm this and weather it would be possible to put an LSD centre into a non LSD? Q2. If the R200 is useful then i would assume the CV type half shafts could be used for a conversion as well. Q2. Would the brakes be useful for a rear disk conversion? I know there is a lot of information on this but just want to be sure. I can get the diff, shafts and brakes for about $300 bucks. Thanks

  5. Started my rotisserie for the 240 this weekend. Thought I'd post some pics. It's coming together pretty easy, no big problems yet. But i'll find out if it actually works at the end. I'm making it so its height adjustable and it will be on castors, of course, so I can move it around, and roll the car on a trailer to take it to the blasters.
  6. I have recently purchased and started using a Cig weld 170HF tig welder about 2 weeks ago (the total setup cost approx. $1000). I had never tig welded before and only done arc and mig welding in school about 7 years ago, But do know a bit about welding through my job. At the moment i am making a work bench out of 2mm tube and it is comming along pretty good, every thing just take practices. Tig welding is not as hard as i thought and in my opinion is better for panel work on cars (less heat, less distortion, more controllable). I am 100% glad i purchased a tig over a mig, IMO tig is not any harder than mig. A bad tig weld will generally look better than a average mig weld.
  7. A brother of a mate, has a 'SR' power clubby. He finished building it about a year ago. Its a very nice example. Been for a ride in and the defiantly perform well, But not really my cup of tea for on the street, i prefer a bit more metal around me. On the track though it would be awesome.

  9. Found this parts site. I haven't used them yet, but they have a fair bit of S30 gear on it for engines exterior etc. Prices don't seem cheap but normalish for new jap parts. You just have to sort through all the general car stuff to find the S30 stuff. http://www.rhdjapan.com/

  15. Not much point replying. Most things you had but would probably add 80 and 90 cars like a DR30 and a 32GTR. just to top off the collection
  16. Hey I had abit of a search but could find much. Wondering what you guys would consider a fair (current) price for a L24 with a matching 5 speed gearbox. I don't need one but i might be able to get one. So i might consider getting it for future projects.
  17. Cheers guys, Just added info to my profile of location an such, which is Adelaide down south. Yes, once had a 180 (hence my profile name, nissansilvia.com) a few years ago, but now my more practical car is a 1999 Stagea. But I'm missing a performances / thrash car, so have massive desire to get the 240 going.
  18. Hi I'm going to introduce myself and my 240 before i start post all over this site asking many questions (I will search first of coarse). She is a 73 240z which is defiantly a project car, but in terms of rust and chassis structure reasonable compared to some of the stuff i have seen around and on the net. This will not be a short term project, obviously due to the condition of the car plus the whole 'catch 22' of need money to spend on the car, need to work for that money. But i have a guide line of about 3 years. Which may sound like a lot, but with my work commitments it, isn't. I'm not going to list off a dream list of parts and things i'm going to do to it, but it will definitely be SR20det power. This may not be to the liking of some Z enthusiast, who would like to see it returned to close to original, but that is why i bought this car in the condition it is in because if i could afford something running in reasonable condition i couldn't bare to do any thing but restore it to any thing but original. Plus i'm more of a retrotech fan, e.g. new technology into an old car.
