hi all, i have been watching this site for over a month now, and can i say you are guys are awesome and very helpful, just a quick story about myself, i used to own 3 zeds (2 x 260z 2+2 and a 240z ) about 19 yrs ago , got married and had kids and had to sell the zeds to buy a family car, my son is now 17rs old and has bought himself a 1976 celica ra 23 which we have been working on and it has now lit a fire in me, so basically looking for a 240z or a 260z coupe ( no 2+2's ) to restore. hope to find one soon and be more involved in the club.

Welcome and remember re visiting a Zed after 19 years you will notice either how slim you were as a younger person or how small and narrow the Zeds are now compared to cars of today. Lynton 8)

Pauly, thanks for the heads up on that 240z ill definitely be looking into it, when i do find a z ill let you know and you can pop around with that whole drum of fish oil.

Lynton thanks for the welcome but its not the slimness that worries me its more the flexibility of getting in and out haha.

mike i sure do!

thanks mike yeah shes not bad. needs a fair bit of body work but we've got a panel beater specialising in restoration work in the family so we should be right in that aspect.

the power plant if i could call it a 'power' plant haha is an 18R-GU from an aus spec RA28 im guessing. still got the old paper weight minuki/solex carbies and running like a dog as always  :-\

hopefully my sons looking at putting a 1G-GTE, 1JZ-GTE or a 3T-GTE depending on time, fund restraints and difficulty of installation

where abouts in sydney are you from?

My brother had one in almost exactly the same colour, way back as his first car.  It was bought with minor front end damage and the panels to repair it, and we painted a Jaguar colour.  I drove a few times, then got myself an RA28 which I had for years while I was rebuilding my first 240Z. Great first cars. Easy to drive.

My friends brother owned a TA22 Celica that he put a Turbo 2TG I think it was into it. I really liked the look of the car was sad to see he sold it off in the end.

I never got to drive it, but always wanted to compare it with the S30 to see what it was like.

A friend of mine wanted an RA28 aka 'Mustang Back' but when he went to sit in the car discovered he was a bit tall for it.

I would like to get myself a TA22 someday with Twin Mikuni's on it :).

hey everyone im alex oldZman's son, thanks for all your comments

hi cdr zero thats what im talking about haha, that black ta22 was at a meet up from another forum jdmstyle or somthing like that. He put those hoses on after he drove to the meet up spot, wasnt driving with them on.

one thing is for sure (even thou my old man doesnt like it) im getting some small diameter rims and stretching those tyres out to the maximum haha they just look so good on these coupes.

yeah mike if i have the cash ill be dropping a 1JZ in. if not most likely the 1G either way it will be good having some more power under the hood. i was telling my dad to put an 2JZ in a Zed, just joking haha dont want to start the purists up  :P.

again thanks for all your comments

That's a nice looking Celica  :)  A mate of mine has an aqua '73 model with a 2TG that he did up for his first car.  He's a spray painter so it's absolutly immaculate and a very nice looking car.  1JZ would go hard for a street car but might upset the handling.  If it were me I'd go a 3SGTE.  There's a Celica that races Improved Production here in Tas with a 3SGTE.  He has the IP lap record at Baskerville and is always at the pointy end at Aus championships.  Awesome car.
