choosing a paint colour

I'm just going through paint colour options for when my 240 gets painted, I've got the body colour picked which is 350z daytona blue but I'm trying to decide what colour for the front air dam, zg flares and bre rear spoiler.

 

The car will look almost like the one below, same bodyparts and wheels(charcoal wats), I was thinking gloss black for the parts but other options are semi gloss, matte black or same colour as body, I was also thinking the black 240z stripe which goes along the sill to tie in the black from front to rear, any opinions?

I love the blue Z above, but I don't like the glossy black. I think a flat black looks alot nicer.

 

The stripe is cool, but its not a JDM feature. The stripe was something American dealers added to their Zeds. So it depends on the look you want.

 

I'm thinking a nice pinstripe would be good, or perhaps even a flat black bonnet? (432-432r look).

Hi Mossy ...

 

I think if you're going mat black wats (as am I), with satin mirrors, then you do the car an injustice to have a gloss black airdam. I would keep satin black overall. Are you going for 15" or 16" wheels? I think the 15's look great with the flared arches, as the arches effectively reduce the dia of the wheel arch, whereas with no aches, i'm going to go 16", to fill out the hole a little more.

 

I'm going through the exact same issue with my car now .... what colour to paint ?? although I'm heading down the off white / putty style colour route ... Nat will test spray a few panels to be sure we like the colour before committing to anything.

The wats are a matte gunmetal grey, 16x9 and 16x9.5, I've had a look at a few more photos on the net and I think a semi gloss might be the way to go, the flat black looks pretty good as well but the z's I seen them on had the same black on all the chrome as well.

Choosing colour is driving me nuts. I like flame orange with a couple of black stripes down the centre. My wife would hate it. My last car was that colour, she hated it. Porche turbo grey with white stripes looks good, but I dont really like grey cars on the road because a lot of the time they blend in to the background too much and you dont see them until they blast their horn and swear at you. I'll keep looking at cars on the net until I see one that really takes me.

What rims are they specifically? always wondered, and where did you manage to get them from??

I'm a sucker for the original paint colours available for the Z's. I really like the original Orange and Lime, Yellow colours in particular.

 

If your stuck for a color maybe go retro?

If you find you can't make up your mind, just go the original colour it came dressed in. Found out mine was white, been thinking about a color change...

ive been doing this for long time and kinda settle on one colour than i see something else that looks even better. than the whole process starts again. and guess what still havent decided the colour i want. though Z is easy. almost all colours have been done and most are on the net.but i know u want to be different. same here but sometimes is safer to go with colour that looks good than experiment with something that u goin to hate after short period of time or its going to go out of fashion. Ie chamelion coloures. looked cool at the time now they look like crap. expecialy on a Z.

 

though im looking at colours that compliments the car. i dont care if someone is going to see it or not.

 

good old japanese saying " a nail that sticks out gets hammered"  so true with cars. u car sticks out u get local farm animals on to you all the time, thieves, little school brats etc.........

Silver for a modern type of look.........

 

and Honda Championship White for a classic old school racing look.

 

 

I'd have silver again myself as it's the best in between........

erm mostly  there are two others that are not worth mentioning but are for sale.(this needs clarification they not Z cars. one is a falcon the other BMW, sorry spawn) 

240z both need resto.

muzzy i just got needs finishing

260z and s14 200sx are the ones regod and runing with another one which used to be my mums car.

the s15 not regod as it needs some work done to it. my current project.

 

i usualy have only 2 cars regod at the time. the other ones are usualy seasonal rego or if one of the dailys decide to play up the third car gets regod and driven till rego runs out again. so it doesnt cost much extra.

 

back to the topic.

 

choosign the colour on 240z didnt take long. cause i was divided between mazda mettalic red and falcon blueprint for the 260z . blueprint won for the 260z and automaticaly 240z is going red.

 

2 seaters look great in nice red. just look at sulios. perfection
