acf321 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Hi all ... What's the view on the jap spec wing mirrors? Personally, I'm a huge fan and am going to put them on my project. What are your views? Are they legal in Australia? How many of you have used them? Just interested in peoples views on this. Cheers Adam Quote
fufu Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I think if you dig deep enough there's a thread about ADR and how the 240z actually didn't have any regulations for the fender mirrors. In fact some of the series 1 and 2 AUDM, 240z actually came with fender mirrors. As far as 260Z are concerned, I'm not to familiar with the laws there. Quote
acf321 Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 That Blue car is awesome ... Old School !! Mine will be the same without the fender flares. Quote
zzzzed Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 yep the above blue one will look alot like my 240z i love it Quote

acf321 Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 Does anybody know what type/brand of front splitter appears on the car second in this series from the bottom? That is the splitter with the small rectangular holes in each outer edge? I want to chase one of these parts down? Quote

zedevan Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 i have them on mine (260z), never had trouble with cops but dont think i have ever been pulled over or gone for a rwc with them on - i think at one stage i may of looked up the relevant adr's but can't remember now. just fyi, the chrome ones that you often see on 240z's are actully off 1600's or something, and have a slightly shorter stalk. This is only an issue if you are short as the windscreen wipers start to block the view of the passenger side mirror - but since my car never had one it didn't make much different you can get that front spoiler from that z place in sydney, or you can get a carbon version of it from otomoto?!? RBZ 260 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 love the fender mirrors. i was lucky enough to buy a set from nissan (prob last one) for a small fortune. my 1970 240 has original guards with fender mirror holes. (though they do have the plugs on them now) though still plugs are genuine nissan ones (an oval looking thing. basicaly looks like the fender mirror base minus the mirror). but it will be going on the 240z as well as flares. legalities for early cars dont think there is an issue. possibly for 72 onwards cant recall which adr is the offending one. fufu Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I bought mine via datsunspirit. Back when we had some strength in the dollar. I compared it to the original ones that came with the car and were identical but in chrome which i was quite glad to hear. Zednalong Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I bought a brand spanking new 240Z in 1971 at Wodonga, and it came with a pair of wing mirrors, it was the first Z car to be raced in Aus, but I pulled the mirrors off as soon as I bought the car because I didn’t like them and put 1600 guard side indicators in the holes, the mirrors were stainless steel, I still have them wrapped up somewhere, not sure if I want to sell them though, every thing sell I later wish I had kept it. I cant believe I trashed so much 2 + 2 stuff years ago because I didn’t think anyone would ever want it. Quote
