WTB: 260z 2+2 Bris Area

Hey,

 

Just wanting to see what's around in terms of 260zs. Probably looking for something that's on the road, not necessarily with rwc, but not needing too much work to obtain one. Pref something with little-to-no-rust, generally good mechanically. Cosmetics are not a huge issue, but something that looks nice-ish would be a bonus.

Welcome Dan, might be a good idea to let people know your price range, if you are looking for a 260z two seater in that condition you're probably looking at 7k+.

Hey dalziel, Mate keep an eye on Ebay ,Carsales, Carpoint, trading post.

There have been a few bargins out here lately.

Ebay is the best bet.

If you are after a every day driver with fair mechanical and fair body you could get one for 5-7k and there are few around but they would be some work.

 

Anything much better you are looking at 7-10k, in fact mine is for sale in the classifieds here And its in Brisbane.

 

If you are after a good one a cheap price it will take some time and you have to wait until someone sells one in a hurry or in a remote location

 

Keep an eye on carsales.com and also the Qld Zed site. There are two cheap ones on car sales now, make them an offer, you never know

 

And as far as for a 2+2, we all know which one has the right geometry and that is what the "plus" is for

Thats a first. I never heard anything about 2+2 handling like boat. If anything bit better than the 2 seater. sooooooooooooooooooooooo..................

back to the topic 

 

2+2 range from $1000 for a rolling rust bucket to over 10K for nice clean ones.

 

shouldnt be a problem getting a reasonable one in that price range u after.

 

Lurch's car is priced very good. nothing better than a cheap flight to Melbourne and a road trip back in a Z.

 

If there is nothing that suits u in QLD. i doubt it as ive seen a few decent ones pop up every now and then.

Dan, Do consider the 280zx as an alternative to the 260z 2+2, particularly if you want to spend less than $5k.  Some very good ZX's have gone for pitifully low amounts.  Yes they are the ugly sister at the moment but the 260z 2+2 used to be as well and if you delete the bumpers off ZX it starts to look remarkably Z like in my undoubtedly biased opinion

Are there any 280zxs that come sans targa top? I don't go for the t-top so much...

The 1979 models did not have the Targa top, my son had one, I think they are better too but only from water and sun issues.

 

The 280ZX are a good option for generation Y Zed guys has all the mod cons (fuel injection, electric windows, digital displays, power steering). They are not a bad car for the open road. You may even get a 300ZX for less than 5k

Check out my sons car, a rare 1988 300ZX Californian www.ndsoc.com.au then look under classifieds you would be hard pressed to get an as honest car as this I know the car intimately.

Dam if I was young and irresponsible I would buy it. A XR8 engine in a Zed, that would be lethal.

I have to say, the shapes post-260 don't do much for me in comparison. Not all that concerned about modcons either; I've been driving a Lada Niva.
