mayhem Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 mmmmm you might have a point but they are the only ones who do cars over 35 years old give em a go Quote
mrp69 Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 just cars wanted $1600 a year insured for 10k shannons for only $395 insured for 10k what a difference thank you shannons Quote
stevo_gj Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Shannons are the best by far. I am a 20 year old driver with one prior accident (ran up the arse of a bmw on coronation drive last year in my barina) and they agreed to insure me a Z worth $14500 with a quote of $1200 for my premium with a $900 excess. Compare this to Just Car Insurance who quoted me 1600 premium and 1200 excess and you start to see how good shannons is. Not to mention the free windscreen repair and other little deals they have. Just car was hopeless in more ways than one though, i had to explain to the girl what a carby was, what koni springs were etc and she kept putting me on hold to ask her manager questions.. Pity I didn't end up getting the Z in question, but that quote will still stand if I do decide to get one. Quote
stevo_gj Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 395?? Full comprehensive with a driver under 25 on it? I wonder if my quote was that much higher because of my accident... Quote
mrp69 Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 posibly man i freaked out but im happy cheap insurance u cant complain peter Quote
zed240au Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 i have my zed with shannons $15000 agreed value on limited use policy along with special interest rego cost $225 but i am over 40 plus rating one insurance mick Quote
oldmates260z Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I had my son's Zed registered in joint names with me and had got a good deal with Shannons with him as a regular driver. I think RACQ or Suncorp do a similar deal with using you parents no claim bonus Quote
mrp69 Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 well im only 22 and have never been insured Quote
pauly_adams Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 yeh i was insured but just cars and gio are the only 2 who will insure me. i gave shannons a call and the said they would not insure me unless i raced my car or had previous history in kart racing etc. no idea why but just cars is far too much and also all 260z 2+2 are turbo according to one of there employees, it took me 30min and a chat to one of there managers to covince them otherewise. cheers pauly Quote
Toecutter Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 GIO, $175.00 per year for $19,000 agreed value, however thats under a Club Permit so obviously not a daily driver. Sulio Quote
George Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Shannons are a god send for car enthusiasts where Just Cars bend over young kids. One great thing about Shannons is you get salvage rights in the event of a write off. I'd never sign up to any insurance without salvage rights for a car like the 240. Especially if you have an engine worth a few bucks. Quote
lightmaster240z Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Got mine with shannon $120.00 a year Vs RACV at $690.00 and I have never had a claim. go figer that one. AS long as you are a member of a club, and only do very low mile less than 4000 mile a year your premum should be very low. and the car is keep in a garage more that fify percent of the time you hsve no problem with them good luck regards bruce Quote
Carlos Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Shannons and every mod is listed with a good agreed value. Quote
stevo_gj Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I think I know why my insurance quote was that much higher. I insured mine as a daily driver which I would use to get to and from uni. I imagine that you probably used the special rate of insurance for a vehicle that won't be travelling far from home and mostly to club events to get 395? Quote
lightmaster240z Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Steve I use my car every day to from work. dont tell shanons. I may do over 4000k a year but they didnt ask for a speedo reading eather. I would be inclined to a just my answer to them to suit your back pocket? regards Bruce :) Quote
