Hey guys,

I was driving the car to uni this morning, and thought i might open the valves a bit on the highway ;D, but to my dissappointment i found that the engine didnt go past 3500. Had the same issue on the cruise, Joel recommended new plugs. Just wondering what everyone else thinks.

Cheers

Sach.

I'd be looking at all of the ignition system (timing etc). If all is ok, check float levels in the carbies.

It won't be your plugs. I imagine it's only fuel or electrical related barring any major engine defects. My first investigation would be on the fuel side. Carby's, linkages etc.

vaccum advance( if you arent running triples ) . Check that the vaccum line is in good condition and that it is connected correctly.

Took off my triples and put back on the su's and forgot to reattach the vaccum advance and i got doughy response above 4000. Reattached and it is fine Electronic ign. I dont know if doughy response is what you are describing by not going past 3500.

Also fuel starvation ?

The problem i was having with mine was very similar and all i did was changed the plugs which definately fixed my problem. At the end of the day a new set of plugs cant hurt and its not a great deal of money.

tune your tripples, as it will be fouling plugs..

cooked one plug about a month before I got rid of it... although that didnt stop the car from revving, maybe 2 of your plugs have fouled?
