Hey sup everybody,

My name is Ray, I am from Sydney (north) and I am currently on the hunt for a 240z or 260z... I have been quite obssesed with these zees for a while now and I have decided to bite the bullet and live the dream ahha... I sold my Japspec SSS and am buying a Z and another car for a daily...

I have a few questions that will hopefully aid me on my search;

- Firstly - what are the differences between the 240 and 260 aside from the engine? It seems as though the front end looks a little different sometimes?

- Also is it possible to bolt on a 280z turbo manifold onto a 260z block if I was to do a bolt on? (I realise injection would be needed here)

- What size turbo do people recommend for the 2.6lt? For a street driven possibly raced Z , I do not need HUGE power figures, maybe full boost early and some good G force!! I was thinking a GT30 size turbz...

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks heaps people and sorry for the newb questions - I couldnt find much help through the search function.

g'day Ray. welcome to the boards and good luck with your hunt. it might take a while but it's worth it.

your question of differences between 240/260 has been asked plenty of times. lots of good info out there so dig around. the two biggest differences though are bragging rights and size of loan slash hole in your pockets.

see you around.

As the guys have said most of those questions have been answered before.  As for a turbo, I run a T04 on my L28 which is surprisingly responsive.  Provides boost from around 2,500 rpm.

Hey people,

Yea I did have a search but didnt really find the information that I was after! I have found a few Zs in Sydney that I will be looking at soonish - I am just dreading the rust! I will look in the usual places and hopefully it will not be too much.

One quick question though - will the L28 turbo manifold bolt on to the L26 block?

Any help appreciated!

Rust really isn't an issue, unless it's terminal. There's plenty of rust replacement panels available.

Just take a magnet with you.

Yes it will. I'll be running a GT30r with a .82 housing on my L28et.

Also, may I suggest you brush up on your information regarding these cars.

Theres many books about them & even more info on the net ;)

Oh, and if you start posting in 'hectic langwige' such as Turbz & Zorst & Fulli sikk Br000000!!!,

you may well find your credibility plummet around here... Catch my drift?

BTW, Welcome to the forum ;)

Hi Ray,

Welcome to the site. I have an turbocharged L26 sitting in my shed with a carb setup, but not sure of the size of the turbo but it looks like the same size as the turbo used on the new hilux's. It was used as a club racer before I got it and I haven't had the engine running, but have been assured that the engine ran well with that setup.

Not sure about the manifold that mine is using either, I suspect that it could be a custom job. Might be worth a ponder if you were fond of the carbi's.

Good luck with your search.

Hey people,

I found a 240z at a wrecker with an L28 in it. The car has a fair bit of rust and a few thumb size holes. The guy wont go lower than 4k - I was wondering if anyone thinks that is an alright price or if I should keep searching?

The biggest problem is I couldnt see the car properly as it was surrounded by other cars, parts, scaffolding and other junk. Dirty as hell too - mustve been sitting there a fair while. I am very tempted to just bite the bullet and buy the thing.

Any advice is appreciated!

G'day,

Just thought that i would mention that there is one in the trading post website for $2950 in N.S.W.

4 k does sound a little rich but they ain't gonna go down in price.
