I am 64 years old, a dedicated car nut, and have restored a number of Ford GT Cortina's over the years. Having just sold my last resto (1969 GTL) and have had a touch of "Z" fever for many years, I decided to buy myself a cool cruising '82 280Z automagic. I sure it will be a long and happy partnership and living in a superb climate (Bundaberg Qld) the targa top will be used frequently. So hello to all and i hope i don't ask too many dumb questions as i learn about the Z car............Jon

Welcome make.  Once had a TD myself but they do actually bend around trees when you are young, dumb etc etc.  What condition is the 280?

Thanks for the welcomes etc, i will post some shots of the old corty and the 280 as soon as i can, I'm in the process of getting a bit of rust cut out of myself for a change so I'm a bit unreliable (going to brisbane, etc) Anyway the 280 is a straight, unmolested auto, T roof, factory wheels and still original PB radio. Very minor rust L/H bonnet hinge and 5 cent piece sized rust L/H lower door ( that will probably blow out to be a $50 note sized bit of rust, inflation you know)

Knackered fuel pump, and a bad vaccum leak ( i'm thinking brake booster)  Only had the thing for a week and only paid 6K, so i think its a winner because its real straight, every thing works, its very tidy inside and still has the original owners manual in the glove box.

I had a lovely old TE cortina once, burnt orange color, that was a bad omen because it caught fire at the drive inn ( I hope some one remembers what a drive-inn was) anyway totally buggered the movie for a lot of people, exit one cortina and to add insult further on me I had to pay for the crap speaker that got redesigned because of the fire, that was the only TE I ever had!...........jon

Welcome mate. I am about the same vintage and once had a 64 Cortina with a 1600 x flow GT motor. Great car and wish I still had it. I will be in Bundy next week if you want to catch up.
