Administrators gav240z Posted March 27, 2017 Administrators Posted March 27, 2017 Hey Folks, Just wondering what are people doing for replacement foam on their seats when they get them re-trimmed? Had a read of these. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14200-reupholster-seats/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/926-too-intense-restoration-seat-upholstery-kit-and-foam-inserts/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/2028-seats-reupholstered-quote/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13213-custom-made-zed-interiors/ It looks like nobody has found anything in Australia yet? I was talking with someone down the road who re-upholsters furniture, he said there is various types of foam (some better for automotive applications than others). Cars interior's isn't his bread and butter usually (mostly old furniture). Anyway I won't know if my original foams are gone or not until I remove the old covers. Just want to see what options are out there? Cheers,Gavin Quote
aircobra Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 i got these http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/40-2691 the only other option is to buy the foam blocks and carve with the foam saw. doubt you would get it as correct as this Quote
andyk_79 Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 +1 on the MSA ones. Like a lot of z parts there's just not enough scale for an Aussie outfit to carry these and be competitive with offshore. Think I commented in one of those other threads but the shipping is a killer because of the size of the box. Quote
NickF Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Not much foam in early seats a thin layer attached to vinyl the rest is horse hair. Basically repro seat material is a long way off original Its areas like this where you have to decide wether you compromise your quest for "originality" Nick Quote

theremm Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I was about to purchase new cushion inserts and seat covers from DatsunParts.com, however I found a pair of reupholstered seats for sale at the time which I purchased instead. The Datsun Parts products looked good and a friend of mine regularly purchases roadster parts from this site and has been very happy. No experience with the Z interior products admittedly. They are quite considerably more expensive than the MSA products however. http://datsunparts.com/Z-Car-Parts Quote
