Hey Folks,

Just wondering what are people doing for replacement foam on their seats when they get them re-trimmed?

Had a read of these.

It looks like nobody has found anything in Australia yet?

I was talking with someone down the road who re-upholsters furniture, he said there is various types of foam (some better for automotive applications than others). Cars interior's isn't his bread and butter usually (mostly old furniture).

Anyway I won't know if my original foams are gone or not until I remove the old covers. Just want to see what options are out there?

Cheers,
Gavin

+1 on the MSA ones. Like a lot of z parts there's just not enough scale for an Aussie outfit to carry these and be competitive with offshore.

Think I commented in one of those other threads but the shipping is a killer because of the size of the box.

Not much foam in early seats a thin layer attached to vinyl the rest is horse hair.

Basically repro seat material is a long way off original

Its areas like this where you have to decide wether you compromise your quest for "originality"

I was about to purchase new cushion inserts and seat covers from DatsunParts.com, however I found a pair of reupholstered seats for sale at the time which I purchased instead. The Datsun Parts products looked good and a friend of mine regularly purchases roadster parts from this site and has been very happy. No experience with the Z interior products admittedly. They are quite considerably more expensive than the MSA products however.
