Hi everyone, im in need of a new front left guard for my 260z 2+2. My bodyshop is having trouble finding an original guard, but has found aftermarket ones. Does anyone have any experience with these? is the fitment the same?

My experience with the Taiwanese guards wasn't great, the main pressing was pretty good but the details were lacking. I had to drill out some spot welds around the headlight support and reposition to get decent alignment and the folds where it meets the base of the windscreen weren't very accurate and didn't end in a nice point. All up meant the door gaps weren't that great but for me on a race car fitment it was a better option than repairing old bent and rusted guards.

Ditto what RLY240 says, I've compared them in the past & as he says with the aftermarket ones the folds at the base of the windscreen require re-work or you'll not get it to sit right which stuffs up the door gap width & the in/out positioning. So depending what you come up with it's likely you'll need a panel beater to correct it rather than a simple bolt-on & go.

Did your Taiwanese ones have any markings on them near the windscreen cowl to indicate they were copies?

I saw a pair which has a stamping near the top to indicate they were Taiwanese made, but I thought they were quite good. I'm guessing a few versions exist.

I'm guessing a few versions exist.

And some are Copies of Copies of Copies, sort of like chinese whispers - you get the idea.
