positivetennis Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I've noticed people referring to the 2 seater 280zx which must be quite a rare thing in Australia, I believe there maybe one coming in to Sydney to one of the import dealers but will be expensive. It's a shame our dollar is low at the moment as there are some good samples in the US. I also feel that buyer interest is increasing with the 280zx. Its still a very unique looking car and therefore a good one has some collector appeal as long as you don't pay too much. road rider 1 Quote

I'm curious to see what it goes for as I just missed out on a 2 seater that was for sale in New Zealand recently(still a little sad about that one!) Quote

260DET Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Imported my two seater myself from Japan about six years ago, total cost around $8000 when the pacific peso was worth 85Y. The broker had a hell of a job finding a fairly decent one and even then it needed some rust repairs done but at least it was straight and basically a good car. Typically Japanese it had a beautiful two pack white paint job over the good and the bad bits. Quote

Gav posted this beauty in another thread.......I'd have to sell a couple of other toys to get this one! http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g170173916 Quote

Hokin Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Would it be easier to get a 280ZX 2-seater from the US and perform a RHD conversion from a 2+2 donor. Probably the easiest and cheapest way to get a 2 seater version over here now. Edited February 16, 2016 by Hokin Quote

And here http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/11879-richards-620zx-coupe/ As far as converting a +2 into a +0 a cut and shut would be an option, +2 from the A pillar forward. Not that difficult, provided the US car was say a desert car, e no rust, the Australian 2+2 mechancals and dash swap straight over. The firewall already has the lcation points to suit RHD. Only thing, make sure you get bth models with the same steering setup. Some had non powered rack and pinion ! Quote
260DET Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) Anyone in Australia import wrecked cars from the US? Import a cheap 2+0 with front end damage and then cut and shut with a Aussie front should be the cheapest way, if you are mechanically able and can get the two parts properly aligned for joining purposes. Finding a decent front here may be a bit of a challenge though. Be an interesting project for those who like messing around but not commercially viable I would think. Not sure how it would go for registration purposes though, a plated four seater with only two seats. Edited February 21, 2016 by 260DET Quote

dat2kman Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 You just get an engineers report & inspection and have it modification plated with the appropriate coding on the plate, that indicates it is a two seat vehicle. Quote
