Simestime Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Hi i asked this question in another thread but no one has answered the question yet so i thought id ask again. The current block in my zed has 1390 stamped below the L26. Could this be when it was rebuilt(1-3-90) or is it implying something else?Like 90mm bore? Im guessing rebuild but has anyone seen this before? As far as i know the engine was an exchange reco from the adelaide area. Quote
dat2kman Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Normally it would have two machined bits on the blck, with letter/number stamps, ie L26 and 000001 etc. This is at rear on right hand side of blck, above starter motor. There will be other raised cast numbers, sually on front f left hand side, denoting blck type, ie N42 The stamp you are asking about, does it look proffesional, or hand engraved. Where is it in relation to the two machined faces that contain the engine number? gav240z 1 Quote

Riceburner Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 All the blocks I've had bored or worked on have had hand engraved job numbers put on the front of the block down the bottom where it will eventually be hidden by the timing cover. Perhaps it's just a job number from the machine shop? gav240z 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 14, 2015 Administrators Posted December 14, 2015 It doesn't sound factory, post a pic and we will be able to confirm. The 2 numbers I'm aware of are the block type eg: P30, N42, F54 and the engine number L2X-XXXXXX. Anything else is probably not standard... Quote
Simestime Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Heres a pic of the numbers below the l26.ill let you guys be the judge Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 15, 2015 Administrators Posted December 15, 2015 Never seen that before myself. Odd. Quote
RB26DETT Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I've got a L24 block with two rows of numbers Quote
Riceburner Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 There just numbers from a standard punch set, definately not factory. I'd say it was from when the engine was rebuilt. Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) The OP's engine has been rebuilt previously - looks like something HM Engines did back in the day...Choung - you's has been milled & re-stamped! Edited December 15, 2015 by Lurch ™ Quote
Simestime Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 Thanks for the responses guys,i presumed the numbers were probably rebuild date but thought id ask.I'll be stripping the engine over the next few months and hopefully its still standard bore.I picked up some AE flat tops in standard size pretty cheap so hopefully i can use them.Otherwise ill be on the hunt for a virgin block to use. Thanks again. Quote
