I think you are miss reading it, they are just saying they build L26s and L28s. L28 heads have larger valves.

Sounds like you need to do some reading as there is plenty of info out there on all the head and block combinations you can do being a 40 year old motor.

L26 crank is same as L28 as far as I'm aware it's just the bore is larger in an L28. So using L26 block might be to retain matching numbers?

In any case you've mis-read the Lewis Engines site, they are saying they build L26,l28 may as well include L24 also.

The L28 heads have bigger valves, that is their advantage and the fact that most of them are designed to tolerate unleaded fuel, earlier heads don't tolerate unleaded so well..

Certain L28 heads have better port flow characteristics ( P90) at the detraction of a higher volume chamber.

The N42 needs a lot more port work, and on a like for like ( porting work) basis, the P90 is superior.

One other head, that is also a later type injection head, is the OSL, bit hard to find, it has the superior port shape characteristic as the P90, and biggest advatage, it has the tight peanut shaped 37cc chamber, as standard.

Valves are woefully small, but once same dollars are spent on the usual new valves, seats, guides, and porting, the OSL will be the gun head for high performance.

I have one of each available for sale.

Placing a OSL onto a 2.4 or 2.6 bottom end will resuot in pretty good compression numbers.

Placing it on anything above 2.8 litres will see even higher comp, that then needs managing.
