Yamahacam Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Sorry dat2kman, wasn't entirely clear with what I said. The rim is marked as Bridgestone Zona Proto-1. No reference to tyres. Can only find one good pic online with no reference to 260z. Owner says they are original early 260z rims but I doubt it. Will probably buy anyway as price is right. Quote

Ah, they look just like early Aunger aftermarket rims! There should be someone on here into the things fitted by factory/dealers etc who can say! Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted June 15, 2015 Moderators Posted June 15, 2015 No! That tyre was mch later. Orginal tyres would have had the old size designations, ie BR70-14, ER70-14 And that rim above was an aftermarket Aunger, made in Australia, its design was such that if you rolled the wheel too close to a gutter, the edges that stuck out would get ground away! Agree they are not genuine Nissan / datsun. They were a somewhat popular aftermarket rim in the 80's I had a set on a Celica. Cheers PB Quote
gilltech Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Nice looking wheel but is aftermarket, certainly not original 260Z. The one you got off dat2kman would be the only correct style, in Australasia at least; was available from late '74 onwards & also fitted to a great many 280ZXs. There were all sorts of aftermarket mags fitted by dealers or speed shops, not all with the correct offset either. If you're now thinking about going aftermarket but still 'period' style then see if you can find some 15", they are around but not as numerous as 14", but would surely give you more options with tyres. I've sold them now but I ran some 15" Cheviots for many years, only trouble was that mine were 7" wide so made the steering quite heavy. Quote
Yamahacam Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Been told it is the same offset. Have a mate hopefully coming through with genuine wheels for me in exchange for some 240k parts. These are just too cheap to pass by really and I do have 2 240k's so these will probably end up on bluey. Thanks . Quote
