I've got a rough idea of how many searches are done each month for a 240z vs say an R100, RX-2, RX-3 etc.. Although I've not dug too deep on the data on the surface it would appear that searches for a 240z grossly outnumber the early rotary coupe's. I've not checked 260z by the way, So I'm not surprised to find 240z wanted ads on Gumtree.

If you look for 240k's on Gumtree you'll only find various wanted ads.

Yes there are any number of dreamers out there wanting (& often expecting) to get their dream something for SFA. If they can't afford to shell out the current real market going price for a popular project car then how in hell can they ever expect to pay for all the rest of the work & parts required to take it through to completion. They just have no idea. Doesn't hurt to dream, but they're just time wasters.

I've often been dreaming of another project, any RWD 70's-early 80's Jap car and have been searching 240K, 240/260/280C, early Celica's and Corolla's.

Any early AUSDM Skyline such as C110 (240K) and C210 have already skyrocketed in value. R30's are going up as well if you can find one. The 240K I remembered as a boy was so ugly, even as a Datsun fan (my Dad had Datsun/Nissans) even I couldn't love it. How times have changed.

Alot of people are on the JDM bandwagon, want a 240K to turn into a GTR and made the 240K coupe more valuable than a S30.

A C110 (240K) 1975 year 2000 GTR recently went through Jap auction house somewhere, at $120,000 equivalent.

It had a fair amount of incorrect items fitted too.

Unsurprisingle, old mate on Trumgee with hos Wanted advert, may just get a few contacting him, with an old 2/260Z, and next thing, it will pop up on here to be sold.

Just like that used car dealer from SA did recently on here, never to be heard from again,,,

Are you sure about the year? No KPGC110s were made in 1975...

I'm glad that the prices for S30's have gone up, in effect what this does is keep out those who won't look after the car so ensuring that the ones which do remain are valued and preserved by their owners. It will be interesting to see in the future how many get seriously modded, my bet is that there will be relatively fewer due to an increasing value being place on originality.

As for the later model Zeds, those bloody T tops have killed their value for most. Shame on Nissan Australia for only importing T tops and 2+2's from 1980 on for the S130 and Z31  >:(

I just hope values don't go mental. That will take the fun out of it for many including me. I'd be happy to see these cars get higher quality work and components on them along with repairs and more period spec builds but paying through the nose for parts will take some of the fun out of it.

I've contemplated selling my rx7 because some parts are eye wateringly expensive, the s30z seemed cheap to maintain in comparison but some parts are creeping up in value. In some cases a bit beyond reasonable.

What holds back the values of later Fairlady in my opinion is nothing to do with targa tops and more to do with being FatLadys along with difficulty working on as a home mechanic. Sure they are much more comfortable and easy to live with on a daily driven basis but just not as much basic grassroots fun.

Plus the styling is just no match for the earlier simple and stunning lines. Maybe age will do them good like the 240ks though?

In my opinion every dog will have its day including 280's and 300's even now when you see them on the road they are an era unto themselves and very different to common vehicles on the road and I know plenty of people who love those red pimped interiors of velour during the 80's, they are another generation of interest of people removed from perhaps ourselves with different needs of cute that they pine for cruisers and a band like Queen watch this space! We had here a C110, corca md 70's, the fattish rounded body 240K, and late 70's it became a C210 Skyline, both mdels had the L24

That one as above was definately the same body as 240K models we got here, but was advertised as a 2000 GT-R, had fat Wata type rims and bolt on flares, but yes, $120,000.
