G Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Would anyone be interested in getting a group together and approaching Stewart Wilkins for a group buy on his headers? I was thinking of the good, $900ish dollar ones. Quote
74zzz Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 maybe...depends when cash is needed.........would be good to go in 4 weeks if its that far off Quote
G Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 I would be more than happy to wait at least that long. These things typically take a while to organise anyway. Quote
74zzz Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 was thinking of going msa twice pipes, love the sound!......this is tempting and local:) Quote
theremm Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Yep I would be, been trying to save up for a set for a while, keep me in the loop Quote
strt260 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Very interested. Hopefully we can make up the numbers needed. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 3, 2015 Administrators Posted June 3, 2015 Have you spoken to Wilkins about this? I know he's pretty busy at the moment. Still waiting on my motor for it's overbore and cleaning. Quote
G Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Okey dokey folks - this isn't going to happen, however thanks for the interest. I contacted Stewart and he explained to me why this was difficult and I wish to respect his choice in the matter. He sent me a detailed and kind reply, however in a nutshell he would like to have a post-purchase relationship with the buyer. In part, his reply explained that has seen too may people buy these headers and screw up the install. He wants buyers to have a good experience. Specifically, these headers were designed for the Kameari intake and without this, you are likely to have problems without his assistance. I still believe that although pricier than budget eBay knock-offs or US imports (which don't consider our lack of a steering column), these headers represent pretty good value when you consider the R+D which has gone into them. We're pretty lucky to have cutting edge suppliers retailing this stuff in our little backwater (not to mention the free assistance which is often given). Even without the deal, I'll still be supporting local retailers selling high quality gear and will hopefully have a set of these myself shortly. Cheers Gareth Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 3, 2015 Administrators Posted June 3, 2015 Makes sense mate, that's why I thought it was good to speak to him first. As we saw with another well documented build here without the right manifold combination people can 'fudge' the install.... Agree it's good value when you consider cost of importing said parts from abroad and potential issues you can have. Quote

This is the behaviour of a business that really cares about the customer and not just the dollar. In a world where more and more businesses only care about the dollar SWM is to be commended. Quote
74zzz Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 no this does make sense........when it comes to these things its not really a one size fits all purchase......i shall add it to the dream list........now approaching the 35 grand mark haha:) Quote
peter t Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I have bought a few bits from Stewart including a full L28 rebuild kit and I can tell you that although more expensive than US or Evil bay, The FREE advice Stewart has given me is PRICELESS and I don't think you would get this service off shore. Quote
