Just a nice friendly thread to show off our other hobbies and time wasters So, to kick off, i have been building my garage over the last 6 months as free cash and time allows. It started off as a regular garage, dort and dust everywhere, lack of space, ect ect. I decided i needed some 'me' space away from the wife and kids, so the mancave project began. After quite a few drinks i had a rough plan of what i wanted to do, which was later revised and improved once sober... First up was to build a wall in the back of the shed to separate the workshop area from the relax area. I went down to my local recycle place and bought a door with all its fittings for $5, then off to bunnings to buy a heap of wood. I made a wall and doorframe from scratch, then covered it in 6mm MDF sheet. I found someone throwing away insulation batts, so i grabbed them and started filling in the wall cavities, again using 6mm MDF as the wall covering. Same goes for the roof, a bit of patience managed to find some recycled sarking on all the leftover bits of the rolls, that went on the ceiling with more MDF over it. I put in piping through the walls for the air lines, i'll finish the compressor end at some point. Same goes for more wiring and power points, roof lighting, CAT6 cable for the computer, tv aerial, speaker wiring ect. A couch off someone on Facebook cost me $10 and now i have somewhere to sit. Its pretty livable in there, still needs finishing but a great improvement over what it was. The plans for the floor is to carpet it, except for where the car and bike sit, that will be vinyl, or whatever else i happen to find going cheaply. Quote

zcar63 Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 my boat trailer ,with range rover rear axle coils and shocks.To take the roads up north,nothing worse than a broken hull or trailer.Towed it to Weipa and beyond a couple of years ago,did some of the tele track to get to the good spots.Just came back from the NT ,via Borroloola to Doomadgee and down to Lawn hill gorge.Its a bit heavy and awkward to launch, thats the price to pay for a trouble free run. I'll be able to show you what it looks like when it's finished. So right now trying to better understand SQL and read some PHP scripts and modify them to work with what I need. I've put this job off for so long because I know it never goes smoothly. Looking forward to it though.... Work has been keeping me pretty busy (excuses excuses I know), so not much done on the S30z I'm afraid... . I want to tackle a few things like the floors but I'm a bit nervous about messing it up. Must just get stuck into it. Quote

No worries, once we get the diff sorted I will bring it for a cruise to Five Dock and check out progress on your project. The insurance is restricted to nominated drivers only, so you will have to settle for the passenger seats. Could be a few weeks until she back on the road though, some of the parts may need to come from the good old U S of A. Quote

MATTY Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Ive been busy playing with my new daily Thrasher an FG xr6 Turbo. nothing like a 2 tonne taxi with some power. ive been trying to save up the coin for a larger Precision turbo (6766) and some other fruit for it to get me close to the 10 second car im hoping for. shes ran a 11.9 @ 121MPH so far so bit more power and some semi's should get me going good! im still considering a motor swap on my Zed as ive got a few wiring issues with gauges and what not to sort out so im considering just starting from scratch and rewire the whole car yay for me! oh and having scored a hoist in my mates shed i can use any times a god sent! Someone was giving 1 of these the beans the other day when I was walking the dog, honestly sounded like a Skyline with the straight 6. I was surprised to see a Taxi like shape. Although a Skyline could be a taxi also haha. I must say though, can't stand the look of modern Fords, but as a daily hack great! They remind me of VL Turbo's. Quote

If you ever hear one with an external gate they sound rather angry. as for giving her the beans... they love it and track true aswell.I have her on E85 makes her a bit thirsty for daily driving duties but, averaging 24 odd LT's's per 100KM hahaha but it has all the mod cons and is still nice to drive so i cant complain.
