zeds4ever Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 " After a 260Z bonnet/hood "Z" badge in reasonably good condition, doesn't matter if pins are missing but if they are present ,even better. Regards:Alan. Quote
Enzo Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Hi Allan, The bonnet/Hood badge doesn't have pins but has an adhesive back. Genuine Nissan P/N F5880-P7100 (ORNAM-HOOD TOP) Cheers David. Quote
zeds4ever Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Thanks David, but happy to find a good 2nd hand unit. Brand new will stand out like dogs whatsi's. LOL. Regards: Alan. Quote
gilltech Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 The hood badge for a 260 says 'Datsun', & has two pins. AFAIK the 'Z' badge was from the S130 & was self-adhesive, & flatter in shape so doesn't quite match the S30 hood's curve. Quote
Enzo Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Hi Guys, My mistake. Gilltech is right. I had ordered this new badge ten years ago when I was converting my 260z to the Ferrari body-kit and I wanted to match the hood with rear side badges with the Z on them. Must be getting old and forgetful. I checked the P/N and yes it is for a 280zx. Sorry David Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 19, 2015 Administrators Posted January 19, 2015 Pretty sure the 'hood' (or bonnet as we say in this country) badge for a 260z said "DATSUN" just like the 240z. The market that got the 'Z' badge was for the Fairlady Z in Japan . Quote
Riceburner Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Like this, fitted to the JDM models. 240z and 260z as we know them. Quote
Enzo Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Hi Guys, The pictured badge is available in America and if you use google for the part number you will find it's for a 1979-1983 280zx. I don't know about Japanese models. And yes Gav, I should have said Bonnet. David Quote
gilltech Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 The hood badge for a 260 says 'Datsun', & has two pins. AFAIK the 'Z' badge was from the S130 & was self-adhesive, & flatter in shape so doesn't quite match the S30 hood's curve. As I said. But, Gav might be right, the home-market S30s might well have had a 'Z' badge too, I have seen a few in NZ but can't recall. Has someone on here got one & could tell us? However, it would have to be a different shape at back & therefore part number as the S130 hood is much flatter than the S30 where the badge mounts so when you put one on a S30 you have to attach it with sealant around the sides. zeds4ever Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 Missus bought me a battery operated "Dremmel" for Xmas , so i'll modify it to fit. Regards: Alan. Quote
peter t Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Evil-bay, that's where I got mine from. Quote
zeds4ever Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 Peter, was that the 260Z unit or the 280ZX type & do you remember the supplier perchance. Regards: Alan. Quote
Riceburner Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I also got mine from eBay, Nissan of Chesapeake is the seller I bought all of my new badges from. My type is the one with the double sided tape on the back. Fitted fine, no gaps, no dremel, no sealant and has stayed on the car even with high speed track days. Quote
zeds4ever Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Thanx for the reply fella's, sent a email off to "Chesapeake". Here's hoping. Regards: Alan. Quote
