Hey everyone, this is my first post and I would like some ideas/help to what I can do to make my 280zx Better. Im currently 18 and on my Green P plates, this car is going to be my new daily driver and I would like to be even more beautiful then it already is. My Dad and I have made it road worthy from when I first bought it and now im up to improving. Like where can I get the parts from ect. I know like I need to get a new paint job but how much will it cost for a decent one. I have uploaded pictures and its the yellow 280zx, dad has the 350z

Ditch those wire wheels for a start (Sell them to a 260Z 2+2 owner, they seem to like them  ;D ).

Get a set of JDM style mags, lower it a little and add a front and rear spoiler.

Other than that, don't waste money on it (unless you can afford to). Keep it serviced and running, and just enjoy it.

Repainting it the right way will cost a lot, and you won't be able to drive it in the mean time.

The car looks to be in pretty good condition already

Grab a small tin of No2 Cut & Polish Compound, follow directions.

That will improve and bring a bit more life to the paint.

ArmourAll the plastics.

A set f say 15x7 or 8 mags will get it looking better.

Well done, and welcome to the madhouse!

My son's first daily drive was a 280ZX, speaking as a seasoned parent.....do not spend too much doing up the first one as there will be bumps and scraps (my boys was written off and ended up in a 260Z).

Drive it for a year or two, have some fun while your tastes mature.

Welcome to life of a Zed owner...its a hard one to kick once your in

I agree with the others, don't paint it. A good paint job is likely to cost $5k or more in this country and anything less will likely look good right after it's painted but soon after start to look tatty.

I would invest in a good dual action polisher then subscribe to Ammo NYC channel on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYsa8SOy3TkoxI5D17s1u-w) and learn all you can about professional restoration of paint and polishing techniques. It's nearly Christmas, time to ask the folks for a good DA polisher from Santa :P

A good example of what you can do is here:

A nice set of wheels and it will transform the car.

With a good cut and polish it could look like this.

Maybe find an original set of wheels like those in the photos and restore them?

Then in a few years if you still love it and no longer on your P plates. Look at a 2 seater turbo?

Hey guys thanks for the help but do you know where in Australia I can get like spoilers front and back, good wheels and those fender flares. With lowering it what would be the best way to do it. Would any modification need to be done?

I was thinking maybe when I'm off my p plates a turbo set up or putting and rb25det or rb26dett in but that's not for years.

Loving the Zx since dad's got 350Z it's a bit of father son competition

I have a mate that would most likely take those wheels off you depending on price. But as we all say enjoy the ride. There are some nice 280 cars out there. 8)

For any bits you could try advertising in the classifieds here for start, as far as doing things to the car make sure that the shocks are good otherwise the ride and handling will be disappointing.

I'll be a Lemming and follow the crowd here.

*Cut, polish and wax paintwork

*Replace shocks, springs, suspension bushes & mounts, steering components & ball joints

*Headers and exhaust

*Full service and tune

Replace

*Brake rotors

*Brake lines. replace old worn factory with braided lines.

*Brake pads, I use Lucas TRW's and pretty happy with bang for buck

These won't break the bank, but will rapidly improve the handling of your car.
