Clockwork Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 And that's only the middle range ST model? My first car was an TA22, thought it was the beez neez. Speaking of corollas, my GFs mint KE38 wagon gets more looks than my Z. Makes me sad. Shannon's value it at 3k, but lucky to see 2k on sales. Quote
Patch Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) a 77 mini mustang on ebay in Baywater Victoria he was asking 2.5k on rusty wrecks fb page http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/-/262060537122 1977 Toyota celica liftback "mini mustang" body is fairly rough with a few rust spots so would suit a full restoration but car is almost fully only missing a couple of small interior pieces. Has not been started for a few years but still turns over so motor shouldn't need much work to get her running.. Any questions please txt only on 0431139263 located Bayswater VIC. Administrators gav240z Posted December 7, 2015 Administrators Posted December 7, 2015 Not far from me is these 2 beauties. Both the same colour and interior white combo. Sadly they haven't moved in a while it would seem as 1 has cobwebs on it and some rust near the bottom of the rear window. They have been there for over a year now. It always makes me wonder what is in the garage if these 2 are left to sit outside a double-lock up garage. I think the closest 1 is a TA23 but can't tell for sure, the other I can't see the front. I am not sure exactly how to tell if TA22, TA23 or RA23? Quote
Retro Z Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Ta22 has a shorter nose/engine bay and slanted indicators with less of a bonnet bulge than a ra23. The rest is pretty much the same gav240z 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 7, 2015 Administrators Posted December 7, 2015 Thanks I think these are not TA22's then, most likely RA23s or TA23s as the front looks slightly more flat. Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) Pretty sure we only ever got the TA22, RA23 and RA28 in Australia. TA22 didn't have the central bonnet bulge, instead it had the two raised vents either side of the bonnet. And the slanted indicators. RA23 and RA28 are essentially the same, except the 28 being the lift-back. Edited December 12, 2015 by Mr Camouflage Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 12, 2015 Administrators Posted December 12, 2015 RA23 is what I think they must be, because the front looks flat, not slanted. A friend's brother had a TA22 years ago, with the GT Grille and some later twin cam turbo motor. I always liked the car, I was a bit sad when he sold it. He got a modern Honda Jazz because he was sick of tinkering with it, to this day I wonder if he misses that car. I would.. Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Yeah they are, you can see the bonnet bulge in the first car, and I think the petrol filler cap looked a bit different on the TA22. My brother had a TA22, Mum had an RA23, and I had an RA28 all about the same time in the 1990s. My RA28 in the background. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 18, 2016 Administrators Posted November 18, 2016 Might not remain cheap for long. Lots of praise lumped on them here. Would love a Twin Cam early Celica with Mikunis ☺ http://www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/toyota-celica-the-japanese-ponycar.html/?a=viewall Quote
peter t Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) Well I am living the dream. Have the Z in the shed, plus a RA60 in top condition for a daily. Only prob is parts. Chasing a new radiator atm but they are like rhs. Although an auto it is a dream to drive on normal roads. Just did a road trip to Bundy and back and even my 90 year old mother commented how good the drive was. Only issue was overheating problems but fixed that by doing only 80. That really pissed a few off on the highway i can tell you. LOL Edited November 20, 2016 by peter t Quote
theremm Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Ta22 has a T series engine, Ra23/Ra28 have the R series engine. Toyota VIN classifications are nice and easy, first letter always corresponds with the family of engine the chassis supported Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted November 19, 2016 Moderators Posted November 19, 2016 Ta22 has a T series engine, Ra23/Ra28 have the R series engine. Toyota VIN classifications are nice and easy, first letter always corresponds with the family of engine the chassis supported And up til the mid 80's the second is the model A- Celica / Supra B - Coaster / Dyna E - Corolla H - Hiace J - Landcrusier N - Hilux S - Crown T - Corona X - Cressida And so on. 260z blues Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Have a few ta22 and 1 ta23. Awesome cars and very quickly increasing in value. But now looking to swap them for a 240z or 260z 2 seater. Quote
