juz0 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Somebody has to buy this! http://www.boostcruising.com.au/advert/2300249-1972-Mercedesbenz-280s-for-Sale.html its a 1972 Mercedes with an L28! what do you guys think about it? I found it quite interesting Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 21, 2014 Administrators Posted January 21, 2014 I can't get over the colour. Would prefer flat black with red steel rims to suit the rat rod theme and pin striping. But purple of all colours? Quote
MATTY Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 The things you see on boostlosing lol you might be able to swap him for a fish tank, xbox 360 and a controller plus half a pack of winnie reds but seriously if you post something for sale with a motor swap a pic of the conversion helps, that way you can see if its been dodged up. but still pretty good choice for a reliable power plant but Quote
44014 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 The L series design was stolen from the engine that originally came out of that car! Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 The L series design was stolen from the engine that originally came out of that car! Not exactly. Just another Datsun myth that gets distorted over time to Nissan stole/copied the L series engine design from Mercedes, when in fact the story of the design of the L series is far more complicated. zzzzed Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I am restoring one of these at work at the moment. I can't help but like it. They are a cool car Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 21, 2014 Administrators Posted January 21, 2014 I guess by that token Mazda stole the wankel rotary design from NSU also . Quote
Agno Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Mazda developed rotary engines in conjunction with NSU. http://www.mazda.com/mazdaspirit/rotary/story/ As far as I'm aware Prince manufactured Mercedes engines under license before modifying the engine sufficiently to have it credited as their own design. Administrators gav240z Posted January 22, 2014 Administrators Posted January 22, 2014 That was my point really, to say a design such as the L-series was stolen is a bit of a leap. Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I don't think Prince made any Mercedes engines under license. From what I hear, Prince licensed aspects of the valve train design for the Prince G7 Skyline engine from Mercedes. Quote
