Removing Fuel and other gauges - 240Z

Hi Folks,

 

THe fuel gauge in my 71 240Z appears to be not working, and the dash light in the temp gauge has a faulty globe. Does anyone know how to remove these dials, and replace the globes when the dash is in place, in the car? Also does anybody know if the 71Z fuel gauge has a low warning light?

don't know if 240 is the same as 260 but very easy in 260 remove the 4 screws holding on the centre blower panel thingy, take off the 2 side metal brackets remove centre air outlet that gives access to the 3 gauges there is a phillips screw on the bottom of each gauge use stumpy screw driver to remove screw swing back the holder arm thingy and drop the gauge out the bottom the front of the gauge is wider at the bottom than top if you pull them apart put a texta mark on the side so they go back together the same way

That's a jap spec one i obtained from Dimitri. He had a few of them, they must be in Ash's collection now.

From the cars I've seen, the home market Japanese S30s, & North American 260/280s, had low fuel warning lights & seatbelt warning lights. Eg. I have the centre panel from a 1975 or 76 home market Japanese S30 in my parts stash, which has them both. But my early '74 260 (sold new-NZ) doesn't have anything in the dash wiring loom to plug same into.

AFAIK they didn't feature on any of the cars sold new in Australasia.
