Lukas Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Hi everyone, As usual, it's been months/years since my last post. I've been busy getting this... ... back on the road. Anyway, I'm in my final year of my degree and I've been looking for a "problem" that is in need of solving for my major project. One of the biggest problems I've had while working on the Z is the lack of light in my garage. Not just main lighting, but "task" lighting too. While working under the dash, for instance, I found the hand held LED lights that I was using were not an optimal solution. For instance, the glare from the LED's often made it harder to see, they were hard to position or too large to get into certain area's, the ergonomics were not optimal, and so on. So my question is, am I alone in this? Or do you guys and girls also find lighting a problem while working on your project cars? Any input is extremely appreciated, whether it validates or invalidates my idea , so feel free to be as detailed as you like! If it seems like lighting is indeed a problem, my project will be to determine the flaws in existing lighting solutions and then design a superior product. This will involve a lot of prototype testing! Hopefully while working on the 240 Once again, thanks for any replies! Quote

nizm0zed Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Scarily enough Simon, I can tell when you are working on your car. I can see the glow over the hills all the way here in Canberra... Quote
MATTY Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 i find that my torch app on my iphone works a treat as i cant fit my normal fluro lead light in tight area and plus i can adjust the brightness on the torch app as i need. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted July 22, 2013 Moderators Posted July 22, 2013 I have a ARB LED worklight that is awesome and when that is to big I use a small LED Lenser P14 torch. Quote
260DET Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Two seater Z31, cool For lighting, a LED head light can come in handy, mine is dual adjustable for brightness. A small portable flouro will give softer light. Quote
lightmaster240z Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I just go down to the shop and pick a bigger Led Light. My New one is 50watt or 1100 LUM Quote

nizm0zed Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 What? what the fark?? that supposed to mean??? it means he removes his pants and beds over and the light shines out his ass... Its not funny if you have to explain it. Quote
dat2kman Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I picked up at Mannheims Auctions, four shipping lighthouse rotating beacons with 11 million candlepower luminaires, discarded the rotators. The Coastal and Ports Authourity were switching over to full remote automation. These were cheap, $50 the lot! They work fine,,,,,, Bite Bite Bite,,, Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted July 23, 2013 Moderators Posted July 23, 2013 I use many of the huge flood lights and or street lights to light up the garage and area around my house...from 1000W down to a measly 150W. For in the car I have one of those cheap hand held LED work lights. Last time I checked I had enough street lights to light up around 3 km of dual carriageway. Quote
Wayne G Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 11 million candles must cost a fortune to run. Quote
Lukas Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks for the replies guys, even the silly ones . Will have to do a bit more research it seems! Quote
