53-681 Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Hello all, today was my first time ever going to a Z workshop and meeting some of you on these forums face to face For the guys who saw me, yerp you saw my current vehicle which happens not to be a Z. SHOCK!? not; I used to be into Toyota a lot at the time - My friend tried persuading me into buying a datto, but was never successful Got into twin cams, 1st 4A-GE then 3S-GE hence i bought the ST162 as my 1st ever vehicle! I was also very broken at the time... Administrators gav240z Posted April 10, 2011 Administrators Posted April 10, 2011 My friend's brother had a Celica like that, the 3SGE was a good motor. A good first car and Toyota reliable with F.I. I bought a AE92 Corolla with the 4AGE and it used to really annoy my mate that I could beat him in the little Corolla in a straight line drag. I had bought the Corolla as a run-about while saving money to fix up the 240z, but unfortunately the Corolla was broken into and vandalised whilst parked at Southland shopping center. I had no insurance well only 3rd party so no cover for vandalism only if the car was stolen and burnt out. I then sold it and decided to focus on the 240z. That 260z 2+2 of yours needs some love, please apply love to it . Who's 1600 is that in the background? Quote
zedevan Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 my bro had a st162 I used for a bit that had some weird looking newer 3sge in it, which had a flat cam cover (making it look like there was no room for cams) and seemed to be faster than the average 3sge. It was a bit of fun to drive as it had an exhaust, short shifter, cut springs, and a stupid sounding horn. I broke a drive shaft in it though...and the water pump... we also have a broken st165 sitting in the garage next to my zed, i'm trying to convince my dad to part with it... Quote
53-681 Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 Heyy Gav, you have a sharp eye That's my friends 1600 - he's on the ozdat forums. I learnt most of what I know today thanx to him Quote

53-681 Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 OK Guys, I haven't posted an update for a long time and with lack of time these days due to work + uni (+ family (mum's) bs), I find myself only logging into these forums to post required parts in the WANTED section or just attempting to giving shit to Lurch (Whom in actuality I really love, he's like my Z mentor) even though I haven't really seen him for a while face to face etc etc. So, back onto subject. My 260Z 2+2 had just gotten a miracle of a body job from Miracle panel beaters at Albert Street, Preston. 110% No more rust. It has also received a new paint job ofcourse. As I am on a fairly tight budget (seeming I bought a 2+2 and all, it should be obvoius...) I decided to go with the original color code for painting. The car came out beautifully! (i just wanna touch ittt.......) Anyway, I dropped $5500 at the panel beaters for the result. Now, it was time for mechanical work. Now my old man gave me a lot of bullshit saying that I should've taken it to the mechanics beforehand taking it to the panel beaters... He is right to a certain degree. I had the car towed down to a local mechanic whom as soon as the vehicle arrived in his factory, he spat the dummy and cried saying "The car's full of rust, the engine water pipes are rusted, the interior is rubbish, its going to take $6000 to fix the interior on its own, yadda yadda yadda" (Yes he's a Turk lazy con doofus who i'd love to slap). As soon as he was finished saying what he had to say, I hung up the phone, called my old man to organise a tow truck (Yes he keeps pestering me to call him for anything related to tow trucks, apparantly he know the best ones "pfff"), I called and spoke with Daniel who is also known as "Dazzed" on these forums and got it towed to his place. Dazzed upon receiving the vehicle and quickly analysing it, called me and gave a rough appraisal of $4-$6000 to fix and prep the car for a RWC. I can imagine the condition the car would be after Dazzed does his magic, but unfortunately I just do not have that amount of funds at this stage So, I have requested from Dazzed to only get the engine running for the time being. Once the engine is running, I plan to work on the interior, brakes and electronics with a friend and myself. I guess it all is part of the fun in restoring a Z eh, but I had no idea it would be roughly 10K (and if I did, I probably would have done the right thing and purchased a 2-Seater) **I will post pictures up as soon as I visit Dazzed tomorrow and take some** Now everyone knows the secret life of 53-681! I love you all and good night They look like Jag Su's on the red zed. Indeed you were correct Scoota! They are Jaguar SU's! Damn you guys have sharp eyes to determine parts via a 640x480 photo Are the jag su's any good? Quote
handsandwhich Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 No pics, no proof! Where are the pics of the 'miracle' paint job? Quote
luvemfast Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 No pics, no proof! Where are the pics of the 'miracle' paint job? Ahhhhh yes. +1 Quote
Sirpent Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 No pics, no proof! Where are the pics of the 'miracle' paint job? Ahhhhh yes. +1 Hmmmmmmm the word miracle in paint job conjures up the term "If it looks to good to be true it probably isn't" I have seen some very heavily laid down, cut back and polished jobs that look great for all of 3 months then Hope this isn't the case here "53" otherwise congrats ! 53-681 Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 OK Guys, its taken with a shitty Nokia 6120 Classic 2MP camera, but its better than nothing Taken at Daniel's place Quote
Sirpent Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Looks pretty Scmick ! I take itthat its not that peachy color in real life and only due to the camera. Well done, if you are happy with it thats the main thing Quote
Scoota G Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I'd say that would be proof enough, i think this young fella is outdoing a few. Congrats! Quote
53-681 Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 hahaha thanx guys Yeah Sirpent bro, its semi peach, but not as peach in real life as in these shots. Remember, I have mostly been outsourcing getting the worksmanship done on this vehicle so far; both the panel beating and mechanic so I don't take all the credit... Daniel, got the Engine running and fixed the brakes. All that's required is a thourough interior clean/overhaul, headlights/indicators need to be plugged in, new radiator, thermostat and a few other minor stuff for RWC which Daniel will sort out for me when the time comes. But I AM WRAPPED with the results so far Quote

Anyway, back onto topic The Z just got towed to my granparents place today, and I drove it for the first time!
