C.A.R.
Guys, If anyone is in need of some precision/custom machining done for their Zed or whatever, Rob Crichton (owner & proprietor) at Robco Engineering is THE man to see. From custom suspension components to head & block facing, nothing is too hard. I've recently picked up from him some rear adjustable toe bushes for my Zed. He also built Craig's (ZZZ8) Super HD tailshaft. While I was there he was building a set of adjustable LCA's for his own Zed, BMW harmonic balancer conversion for L series engines etc, amongst other interesting things... Address is: Robco Engineering. Factory 2, 40 Titan Drive, Carrum Downs (just north of Frankston). Melways map Ref: 100 D2 Phone: 03 9775 1413 Fax: 9775 1513 Robco at westnet.com.au (but don't expect a speedy reply via email) HIGHLY RECCOMENDED! C.A.R.
I just picked these up this arvo. Alum. rear caliper brackets for mounting rear S1 280ZX calipers onto the rear of 240Z/260Z's. Direct bolting up - so no stuffing about getting offsets right, etc. Call Rob for a Price (ask for a discount if you pay cash )
620Z
Yep good honest bloke. Has his own Zed so you might meet him at some of our drives or meetings. I will be getting him to help me fabricate a number of custom parts for my Power Steering instalation.

Also why did you choose 280zx rear calipers over say R31?
C.A.R.
Couple of questions mate, does the cable handbrake mechanism work ok? Also why did you choose 280zx rear calipers over say R31? Hey Gav, Yes the cable mechanism will work. It looks like I'll just have to weld a small tab with a hole in it onto the puller mechanism as it's slightly different to the early Zed handbrake cable end. The R31 setup looked to be be too awkward to get working correctly (for me anyway - Ash will disagree!). The main problem being the handbrake lever on the caliper is in the wrong position, & is completely different to the Zed. It needs to be heavily reworked. I've seen the setup on Zed's before & it works well, but it was too much stuffing around for me - I'm much to lazy for all that Jazz... C.A.R.
Yeah, the fact that the exhaust system was restricting it to (a little over) 300hp boggles the mind...

Lynton
Rob is a "Do it once and do it right" as a fabrication engineer I remember he was going to rebuild his diff so the 5th gear whine would not be there, he re kitted my carbies for me when I was living down his way befor I moved to Qld he also put me onto HydroBlast in George St Sandringham who are into metal component restoration and these 70's Carbies came up like new Lynton
Lgee
I have known the robco guys from years ago when they used to be across the road to my work in dandenong, 8 years ago, he was good back then, he built a flywheel for a Aston Martin DB6 manual cinversion that I was helping a mate with, it fitted perfectly starter engaged properly, and a 4 piston conversion for a BMW I had back then, and ofcourse all fitted perfect, yes you could talk for a long time with him but that's part of the fun of owning and working on cars
fufu
Hi guys, Just thought I'd ad my input. If your going to purchase the adaptor plates for the S1 280zx rear disk conversion. Please bring along your caliper and check if the holes line up. My S1 280zx calipers had about 0.5mm off on both bolts in comparison to the bracket. Apparently there is a slight difference in bolt configurations for varying S1 280zx calipers.

Peters 80 B310
I have a 1980 Datsun B210 Sedan and would like to ad 1983 Datsun 280 ZX rear disc brakes to it. Will these brackets work for me and if so how can I get ahold of Rob to place an order? Thanks, Peter ps if anyone has any other ideas I am all for it as I am learning still with these cars. Thanks again
C.A.R.
Robco is no longer in business (retired). Seeing as you are in the US, I suggest you look at a Maxima rear disc conversion. Edited September 4, 2022 by C.A.R.
