  1. Like Enzo mine is RS30-005226 260Z sport 9/75. I have had this car for some 27 years and others to keep it company . But before that early girl 000046 for some 8 years .But I must admit, I have found the 260 to be a better car over the 240 and the changes Nissan made to the model have fixed some of its basic problems. Especially the roof where it joins its supports . Early girls just seem to flex a lot at these points. Not so much the 260 2 seat.
  2. Is this the type of scene your looking for. Your other half may be content to live in a industrial estate for a while . But that will end and if you plan to have a family a shed on its own wont cut it. Things are never as cheap as they are right now . Prices can stagnate or Plato for a number of years (happened in the mid 90'S) with very little movement up or down. Trick is to time the end of that period as they will climb fast just after it . GST triggered the last big move at the turn of the century. .
  3. What gap do you have from the end of the trumpet to the air box surface? I made one some 25 years ago out of scrape alloy and I found there is a sweet spot for trumpet length and air gap to the box surface for best performance . I also left the box open at the end with a filter for air flow. Keeps the air cooler I think It's are bit of a dark art getting it right. Air temp and air flow, but it does make a difference..
  4. What the two German cars. I can only see one GREAT car and it is orange-brown.
  5. I see your car as an excise in engineering. Something we all probably would like to take on . But it only looks like a Z on the skin . Underneath it is a whole different story. To me that is what a sports sedan is. Don't get me wrong Richard , I am as jealous as hell of it and I would do my best to stay with you round Lakeside. But we both know that would be an excise in futility on my behalf. Still Jason ,fives minute of effort for a plastic strip to be put in place to save a what the F moment is time well spent . I am sure you have had your share of moments when things have gone wrong just when you don't need them to. My last trip to Lakeside was expensive because I choose to use some almost 50 year old rods and bolts from HS30 000046 in an engine with twice the power it had. You can imagine how that went. We live and learn
  6. Neat and functional. Looks good Richard. You may want to put a lining along the side of the latch so as not to wear a grove in the selector. Last thing you want is it jamming at 200 kph and have a what the F moment.
  7. So Richard turbo or non turbo? What ever you plan to do to the Z31 usually takes twice or more times as long as the same job on a S30 or S130. I will give you an example . Change the fuel pump.and do the cost involved.
  8. Good spot Gav After 25 years or more I was wondering if anyone was ever going to pick up on that. I am not sure of who owns the car at present but DAT24 might be able to shed some light on that . However it does have history with the ZCCQ as it was owned by 2 ex-presidents of the club.
  9. The 240Z pictured above looks like the one used in the poster to promote the first Z Australian Nationals in 1990. Nissan has a number of posters (500-1000 not sure just that there were a lot) and key rings made for the event. The photo was taken at the gold coast.
  10. Stay with the PC Richard Get a TV ,SAY 70 inch . No wait 80 inch , anything bigger is just showing off. You will need 3 of them! Up grade your computer's graphics card ,hard disc , ram, ect . It may require its own cooling system at this stage and need a air conditioner. That's for your comfort. Next you need a sound system for the TV's .Say a 5.1 no a 7.1. A 9.1 is just showing off again. Get some speakers ,three way or more way it doesn't matter as long as they have 12 or 15 inch woofers, mid range and tweeters. They must stand at least 1.5 meters tall If you can't find any ,build them . Go to J CAR they will be able to help. If you buy in lots of 10 it is cheaper that way. By now you will have something to move your house off its stumps. What you haven't got stumps. Get stumps, you have to have that realism of the house coming to an end as you exit the track like Dick Johnson did . Other than that the whole exercise will be just a waste of time. The cost should be only be a fraction of what you have spent on that engine and trans.
  11. You have to much time on your hands Richard if you are able to find material like that . Brilliant Paul could use that to advertise the monthly event ZCCQ attends. The not registered and no test drive is one I had to deal with . As it turns out I must have been the 1 in a 100 where things go right.
  12. I see you haven't put it in the shed with the Z . What are you afraid you will come out in the morning and there will nothing but a smoldering pile of metal beside the Z with a note "I warned you!"
  13. Come on Richard ,Its that skinny weightless ass of yours . Nothing to keep the wheels on the ground . Strap a bag of cement to your bum and see how you go.

    Roma Road Trip

Enjoy the trip Peter .I just returned from Bundaberg after seeing turtles hatch. I will spending time on the Z doing some body work this Easter. Aub
  15. Easter 1990 was chosen as it was the best time for invited owners after the September-October 89 birthday to make the trip to Queensland and for no other reason. It was intended we all take part in the event held in Dubbo . But as a club we could not be fitted into the program. So with the help of the Hunter Valley Z Club (Mark St Clair) and members from NDSOC we held our own event . It was never intended to be more than a one off . But Sydney decided other wise and Vic followed suit . So now some 26 years down the track it is what it is.
  16. Having done a Google search it looks like Vic Is going to do the 2017 Nissan Datsun Nationals . Strange as it is New south Wales turn to host. But these events are always held at Easter and If Sydney is out then do we then look to Queensland to hold the 50TH Anniversary of the 240Z in 2019? The ZCCQ has hosted the 20th and 40th Anniversaries
  17. I have a importer one house up from me which has 3 280's and a US 240 in his shed . I know he is looking around the 13-14 mark. But condition varies between them. I could get some photos and post if you want along with a contact number. But removing bumpers for AU style bumpers wont work as 280Z's don't have the rear recesses for the bumpers. You may also have to get club rego for it. It might be best just to spend the money on a finished project . It will never lose money like so many other cars and with its 50th birthday just around the corner. Well there's no telling what the price may go up to.
  18. Well as an observation at the 1993 Z car club Nationals (now the NDN) in Sydney. There were 3 280ZX's competing in the standard class at ORAN Park Raceway. They were beat by just 1 260Z. All the 280's were 2+2 models and at least one with a targa roof and one a fairlady with an L28 like the one Jason destroyed . I know at least 2 drivers had no knowledge of the track and I am only guessing now ,but there were around 18-20 cars in the class. As a base car, they just seem more solid on the road. I am guessing Richard didn't pick a 2 seater 280ZX to put a Turbo V6 and now a monster V8 in because he liked the look of it.
  19. That is a sweet looking engine bay you have Moggie. I also found 40's better for the street, but lacking just a bit for the track on long straights . They say the sound of a well tuned V8 is hard to beat . but the sound a set of triples make at 6500 in third coming on to the main straight at Lakeside and changing into fourth with it flat to the floor has got to be up there with any V8.
  20. He he ha ha gravity is a bitch . You may save your ribs Richard but your hip will hate you and only one side at that. Look forward to the Kart for sale add.
  21. That sounds like a plan Richard and your dad has had many a successful gathering at his place. Your the man in the position to run it pass Paul and see what could happen . Perhaps Australia Day with Jap cars ? Perhaps Richard from Warwick could trek down and Jason may be back from his Bribie Island adventure. I am sure their are many here who missed this event but would try to make the effort to come to something in January.
  22. It was a good arvo . We could do with a few more social events like this . But I also understand the reluctance of people to open up their homes to others who they may hardly know or not know at all. But this time around things turned out fine apart from everyone all want to eat at the same time . It was a good thing my brother was on hand to help with the BBQ .Could have done with a few more AUSZCAR fans as it was mostly ZCCQ new members and a few fossils from my time. Yes Gav that's Brian H's 432 and what a work of art it is. So I tried to make it as Christmas theme as possible with all the trimmings but no presents.
  23. Hi Dave You may want to contact Paul (ZCCQ) for a copy of their calendar of events for next year. It is bursting at the seams now and there is still more events to be added, so I hear. paul.a.clemens@bigpond.com
  24. I don't know if Paul is coming to this event as he hasn't said anything to me. Most Christmas's he flies back home to land of the long white cloud or is it low, can not remember. So an ex- president will have to do and if DAT2KMAN AND 260DET show that will make 3 ZCCQ ex-presidents. I see your tagline Richard is tribe elder so that would make me tribe fossil I guess.
  25. So the 19th December is coming around fast . The Christmas lights are up and working, for now. Its bit like hoping your Zed will start in very cold weather. It always needs some attention to get it going. Home is 2 Bow street Waterford 4133. Directions are on the flyer but it is just off the start of Waterford -Tambourine Road at Waterford down from the BP servo. Any time after 2pm
