  4. Hi Bud Volvos hmmm well yes what can I say not a Z car but have they made some interesting coaches . Advise haven't finished my own Z project so I don't pretend to be qualified other than that I don't think there is a better car built for the money in the 70'S So time and money well spent - preserve a true classic. LOCK ME UP AND TROW THE AWAY KEY. Cheers AK I have started my own bare shell strip down and I found quiet a few hidden problems that would not have be found unless I did the full strip back - so it should be time well spent.
  5. Hi Steve Nice job on the clubman - good skills! Don't think it needs paint - looks great now. Good luck finding a good Z if I see something I will let you know Cheers AK C
  6. Hi Justin Looks like a nice car. Welcome from another newbie. Hope she is all straight and no rust. Cheers AK
  7. No this is my first Datsun/Nissan - I Owned a 1970 - LC Holden GTR original once that was the coolest car I have owned yet until I got the 260z going that is. I like 70's cars
  8. Hi Dimitri and Locky I am all new to being on forums, so I am not the up with navigating around and posting ect but will figure it out as we go along. I am going to fully strip her down back to the shell, that is the plan at least and do metal work as needed. She is about 50% stripped now and have reconditioned 1 door now - still need all new rubbers ect. I am looking at doing a dustless water blast on everything once stripped if can T-UP a unit to hire and get a rotisserie to put the shell on - fun times ahead !!! Going to either weld up the original factory sun roof or make a plexi glass solid roof to go in place of the factory retractable job - will give me more head room being 6ft /2 it will help. I am taking a lot of photos as I go for reference and will put together a story when I get a chance. Seats are hard one, the original z seats being really narrow makes it hard to find good after markets - so I think I will have to recondition the old units . All advice and thoughts are appreciated from the long time inflicted. Has anyone done the dustless water blasting yet??? any feed back? looks very effective. Lots of work to do.
  9. Wow its like hard to believe its real - looks perfect body wise - great find well done!
  10. Hi Todd Good luck with tool throwing - I suffer from that strange , cruel, satisfying affliction as well. Cheers AK quote author=Datsun240Z link=topic=14014.msg147808#msg147808 date=1393638410] Hello! Name is Todd, 21y/o, from Melbourne and absolutely obsessed with 70s - 80s Datsuns, Toyotas and Porsches. I have owned two S30s (along with a whole bunch of other old-er cars(pictures added)) and after regretfully swapping my last one for a track car, I am looking to purchase another one as a project (PM me if you have one for sale! ). There is a bunch of good fruit waiting to go into the 240Z and I am excited to begin my hatred for another car build! Needless to say; there will be lots of anger, kicking tools across the garage, accidentally punching sharp metal parts from a slipping socket and lots and lots of learning. Hopefully will chat to you all and I look forward to progressing my knowledge in Datsuns. Red 240Z: loads of parts missing, was the point that I realized that it helps to have a complete car to work on. Blue 240Z: Complete car but wasn't tuned and had LOTS of rust (you could easily push the firewall in from so much rust)
  11. Hi Guys I am new member in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It been 20years in coming, but finally bought my project Z 1977 260z 2+2 5speed with factory sun roof , light blue, it's had some work done , she is pretty straight and no real rust to see at this stage. New radiator New exhaust system Rewired Mag wheels refurbished New dash skin but still needs a lot more - but that's half the fun they say. No reg right now need to get some new induction happening, the Hitachi SUs are dysfunctional, thinking triple webers may be the go, hope to the get it on the road to start with - then the games will begin. Any advise on getting club plates would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to meeting some members at a club day some time. Cheers AK
