Oh yeah, I was thinking of getting those a while back. They look pretty cool, and should fit on stock suspension and under normal flares with a bit of a tyre stretch.

Well, to me, following the diagram did not put them in a position I was happy with. Also, the celica stalk and mounting plate is very thin, so it wouldn't have made a big difference if I measured to the edge of the mount rather than the centre, if that's what you're getting at... Another position I found in a thread somewhere on here I much preferred so I went with that. Put them wherever you want, doesn't really matter as long as you are happy, I'm just saying that it's possible to get really good visibility out of them.

Just thought I'd revive this thread. I put Celica fender mirrors on my car the other week, and I have to say, the field of vision is far better than any door mirrors in any car I have driven. I can see back perfectly and I have no blind spot at all. When a car overtaking along side me leaves my mirror, they are visible in my peripheral vision out my side window. The Celica mirrors are fully adjustable and have a convex mirror for added visibility. I didn't follow that diagram everyone throws around, and mounted them further out as per the S30s in Japan. Dunno if that helped. So I don't think poor visibility is an argument for not getting fender mirrors, I would base the decision purely on what you prefer the look of.

Yeah original ones are still on. They are in good condition but would have had to have been ripped off anyway cause I have weld in camber plates going in soon. Will just need a bit of a chop I think to get the 240 ones to fit, but will not be noticeable if I get it right. I just always liked the diamond vinyl look so got the 240 set.

Maybe more to do with the fact that it's a 40 year old car

I got my hands on a new set of OEM scuff plates for the 260z. The fit well and look nice. They are available here: http://www.new-datsun-parts.com/datsun-240Z-parts-interior2.html They are for 280 but are the same shape, however they require drilling new holes to fit as they are a bit skinnier. Not a big deal. The 240 scuff plates are half the price, but I don't know if they will fit. Also the 240 are available in a lot of places, this is the only place on the whole interwebs where I have seen the 260/280 scuff plates. Cheers, Hamish

Fitted it on the weekend. Problems. 1. The handbrake hole was not correct. I had to cut into it to extend the whole upwards. I believe this will be covered though by the shift boot when I get it. 2. The luggage riser trim is too wide, there is about 1 cm on the riser around the console hump that is not covered. I plan to fix this by cutting up some extra bits that hang under the carpets and put them in the gaps. 3. I haven't fitted the strut tower and wheel area bits, but they look to be too big. Again I think this is fixable. Overall, a couple of problems but nothing too bad, can still get it to work. These could be cause by the fact I'm fitting a 240 kit into a 260. Cheers, Hamish
